Week 3 is coming up already and we are already into our back up QB, TE, WR, LG, and numerous other bump and bruises. Mac Jones comported himself pretty well and hit the plays he needed to as he threw 3 TDs and led the team past the New Orleans Saints. Jones missed some opportunities, and held the ball too long, which led to the fumble and sacks, but he got the job done in the end. He was a lot more safe than Purdy, but the big chunk plays were missing for the most part. As it was, a win is a win is a road win. Always tough in the NFL.
Folks say this schedule is easy, but there ain’t nothing easy what with parity and whatnot. Look at KC for a good example. They were on the winning end of 11 close games last year. Now? 0-2 as they can’t close out those same types of games. Seattle should really be called the Phoenixes as they continually rise from the ashes to be competitive. This year is no exception as they are a tough team that likely is in a dogfight for the NFC West. Or 6-11 last year could have easily been 11-6 with just a few flipped plays.
Which brings us to week 3 and the Cardinals. They have also eeeked out a couple wins against what is considered lesser opponents in the Saints and the Panthers. Thing is, the Panthers and Bryce Young (35-55!!!) put up 330 passing yards on them. That’s a LOT of throwing. NO and the Rattler threw for 215 yards on 27-46. Both outgained AZ and lost. The runs against were low. 102 and 86. But not sure if that’s because the airways were free and clear or AZ stuffed the run games.
AZ is one of those teams though that always seems to be a thorn in our side. They WILL try to run the ball, and John Connor plays us tough. Kyler? I don;t know. He’s a mobile threat, but we’ve been pretty good at containing him. His numbers are pretty pedestrian, but if you look at QBR and rating, the numbers are way off.
QBR, Murray is 18th at 56.3. Rating, he’s 9th at 101.1
Purdy? 7th in QBR at 78.8. Rating, he’s 15th at 92.2
Jones? 11th in QBR at 66.9. Rating he’s 5th at 113.1
Add the two together and low score wins?
Jones – 11 + 5 = 16
Purdy – 7 + 15 = 22
Murray – 18 + 9 = 27
I don’t even want to throw PFF scores in here as those are even wonkier.
I always worry some when we play AZ and that goes back to a long way. Hope to see some improvements this week. Glad Jennings showed up. Hope I can watch it this week.

does he have any bench press , squat, etc measurements to indicate strength. Did this get measured in college.
he is an OG, where’s the beef.
he looked ok last Sunday.
yeah the Cards are always hard on us. Still no word about Purdy but at least Jones did ok. Without the fumble it would have been a great game.
Jennings doesn’t look completely healthy but he’s still getting open.
Here’s hoping the Cards crush Santa Clara.
You spell as well as you write. Who’s gonna be crushing your mom?
He’s getting a John Runyan comparison which ain’t bad BTom.
May not have benched in Indy though?
Good movement numbers and played in a ZBS for Ferentz as a freshman so that’s a pretty high bar.
Connor Colby 2025 NFL Draft: Scouting Report For Iowa Hawkeyes OG | The 33rd Team https://share.google/rvuCSlBtKC4toPD1j
Zakelj was to be developed as an OC but was too slow to get out of.his crouch and into the zbs run blocking. I think I read that a year or two ago. If his arms and shoulders can’t be strengthened enough for OG maybe he can be our next Alex Mack.

This article shows the clip of an incredible play by Mykell Willams. RB tries to go inside, MW is there. RB goes outside, MW throws blocker to the side and gets TFL on the outside. Unbelievable play, especially for a rookie.
49ers’ defense-oriented draft is already paying dividends in 2025
These guys need to be ready for AZ. They run well, and John Connor has ripped us a bunch of times.
Home opener and all that, we need to start fast and not play catch up.
Yeah, they gave up a ton of air yours to Carolina, but they can dictate the pace by running well.

min 4 games so to be expected for a high ankle sprain.
Like I said, the defense isn’t night-and-day better but they are making the plays, and Saleh is putting them in position to make game-sealing plays.
I mean NO isn’t gonna take the world by storm, and we gave up too many points but winning on the road with your backup QB and all the injuries we have is no mean feat.
Want to see Purdy back out there but no word yet. Just that he’s a possible.
Back to back division games so we’ll have played half of our division games in the first 5 weeks.
Easy? Not really.
Purdy limited in practice today.
Will he or won’t he?
Glean what you will from that.
Niners will play 3 games in 11 days, I’m not crazy about letting Purdy play on Sunday even if he thinks he can.
They should roll with Mac Jones at least against AZ.
If he’s ready he’s ready. He gets such strange injuries.

Link is from Niners Nation, gave grades to the rookies
Colby was definitely a surprise. He played well.
Hopefully another Puni we sure could use it.
It is kinda bewildering that I give this team shit for barely paying attention to the O line and they find these guys in the late rounds that turn into studs.
We’ll see with Colby, but he looks solid so far anyway.
new thread is up.
