My Kingdom for a Bartch – and Baseball is Back!

Strange, but a friend of mine used to call cigarettes bartches. As in “Lemme have a bartch.” Dude was bumming all the time. I guess as a sign that we like the guy, the Niners signed Ben Bartch, a left guard who was playing pretty well for a couple games before getting IRed early last season. It would be nice to build SOME depth before wading into the draft pool in a couple months, so there’s that.

Other than that, there’s just the wild speculation around who we pick. If we trade up. If we add Deebo into a trade-up and such. Not much unless we make more signings before April 24th.

Aaaaand baseball is back! Well, spring training has started. Spring is springing eternal and we will see if the Giants have something with their young pitchers, Verlander, a solid left side of the infield, and a whole lot of the same-o same-o.

Yaz, Wade, Hicks, Flores, and the usual bunch of retreads doesn’t thrill me, but Lee healthy should be fun, Adames seems like a legit guy who is a solid character, Chappie should be good as well. I think the rotation really comes down to how well Rachel Ray does. We need to get solid numbers from him. Verlander? Man, who knows? But Webb should be his usual bulldog self.

After Webb, Ray, and Justin, we have Birdsong and Dirty Harry rounding out the rotation. I haven’t heard if we are going with a 6-masn rotation like some other teams have brought up, but this pitching by committee and opener type shit needs to stop. To that end we have Beck, Black, Roupp, Hicks (back to the pen), and Winn (and a few others) waiting in Sacto. With the A’s!

So, we are playing for 3rd place? Our division is rough, let alone the rest of the NL. Gonna be a weird year I’m afraid. The Dodgers signed FOUR of the top 25 free agents. After winning it all of course. AZ got Corbin Burnes (Goddamnit!) and the Pads haven’t been nearly as splashy, but they aren’t gonna be soft either.

A lot (Bryce Eldridge?) has to go right for this teams to be competitive all year. We will see.

Nice rundown but still all have some flaws or issues. I don’t really care if we go either line all I know is we have to hit on our low rd picks. There is so much smoke and bullshit floating around it’s hard to pinpoint anything yet. FA is gonna be where we figure just what direction we go in the draft. Still it’s fun to hope.

This kid lit it up –

Big safety puts on a whale of a show. On Thursday, Nick Emmanwori hit the podium and made a confident proclamation: “A safety like me hasn’t come through this league in a long time. Lotta size, lota speed, lotta ability.” On Friday, the South Carolina product hit Lucas Oil Stadium and backed up those words with some jaw-dropping actions.A supersized safety at a hair over 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Emmanwori put on quite an athletic display, first pacing the position in the vertical leap (43 inches) and broad jump (11 feet, 6 inches). (In fact, those two marks are the best at any position through the first two days of the combine.) Then he took to the track and blazed a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash, trailing only Kansas State’s Marques Sigle (4.37) among safeties.

Wow. After Shanny basically kowtows to Deebo last year, they deal him for a 5th round pick and take a $31.5 mill cap hit?

Wow. Pretty sure Aiyuk ain’t gonna be ready. These guys baffle me a lot.

We just got hit with the WR syndrome. Both got a lot of money and just didn’t put out the effort last year and with Aiyuk this year I don’t think it will be any better. I think the money really went to his head. I would get rid of him if possible. And I really like his game the same with Deebo but they don’t put out the effort then fuck em.

I guessed/hoped for a 4th rounder for Deebo, but all things considered a 5th was probably fair.

Word is BA is being asked about for a trade. Whilst I didn’t believe the Niners were keeping Deebo, even after Lynch made it sound that way, I also don’t believe the Niners will trade BA now.

Lots of things can change, but the overriding issues are the way his contract is structured and the severity of his injury causing concerns over his ability to effectively return to his peak form for a prospective new team, leading to low ball offers.

I don’t see the Niners getting enough value to have a trade make sense, although after the way he behaved to get his bag last year I ersonally wouldn’t mind seeing him go.

I agree as long as he is unable to play there won’t be any serious offers. I read somewhere he won’t be ready until the 2nd half of the season if then.
