In the Year 2525 . . . Happy New Year ! ! !

. . . if man is still alive.

. . . if football can survive . . .

Ahhhh, Zager and Evans. They used to have that song on the juke box at one of the original Round Table Pizza parlors on 3rd Ave in San Mateo and I played the shit out of that song. Funny enough, it swapped out to North Beach Pizza about 25 years ago, and is still there.

As for 2025, who knows? I saw in the Green Section that gee, maybe out defense isn’t that good, and that Sorensen is on the hot seat. Really? 15 games into the forgettable season of missed opportunities, little to no defensive scheme other than rushing 4 and dropping the LBs every play 99% of the time?

Our early effort did produce some turnovers, but those dried up by week 8. Our numbers are terrible across the board, and to blame this on injuries is a fool’s errand. Watching Minnesota put 5 on the line nearly every snap was simply a reminder of how you can be aggressive on defense without blitzing all the time, but showing different looks up front and moving LBs around.

But, whatevs. This season was an utter waste of time. The front office did their best to sabotage the season by dragging out the negotiations with BA and Williams, Shanny’s insistence on prsying for CMC;s return and revival of the team’s woes simply prolonged the agony of being terrible in the red zone and Shanny’s shortcomings as a play caller. when his team isn;t at full strength.

Oh well. Wait till next year!!

Hope you all have a happy and safe new years, and let’s hope against hope this team can figure out how to get out of this current mess.

A unique song of the times.

Don’t know if the lions are gonna throw out the 2nd string or not but I still would sit Purdy and everyone we want to trade for the rest of the year. Pretty sure we can make up some ailments to relax the media.

Every sports article I have read have all said the same thing upgrade the O-line and the D- line, but especially the O line.

  2. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Oh and the sports writers in the SF Chronicle say be patient with Moody. They pointed out he is the only kicker to kick 2 50+ yard field goals in a SB. So he does know what pressure is, just like the whole team he is having an off year.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We’ve been saying O line/aD line for 3 years running.

moody is the least of my worries with this team.

I just hope the coaching staff has learned from their glaring issues regarding who to rely on on offense and how to score in the red zone. Build a better Lu e and Purdy will look a lot better. Shit, Darnold looks like Montana with a decent line blocking for him.

the defense should be an easy fix with a better coach.

And just wait for Shanny’s New Year wish of going after his continuing bromance of being in Kirk Cousins are even Aaron Rodgers!

  5. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

I like what Flores does in MN.

Constantly throwing pre-snap motion at the QB to keep them guessing who’s coming. Confuses the shit out of the protection calls.

Us? Totally vanilla. Ho hum and then some.

Use the final games to see who’s staying and get the Draft prep in order.

  6. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

This is what needs to continue. Check who’s out there and wants a shot. Rutgers has produced some decent CBs.

    No running backs at all?

  8. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

And the struggles in the red zone continues

  9. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Where were these plays during the other 14 games

  10. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah come out and show the Lions we can break knee caps too! Great drive capped off by Pearsall TD! And Jennings my lord showing a massive pancake block all the way to the stands!

  11. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

But nothing changed on the D, they still don’t understand that 4 is not enough

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    No pass rush? Check.

Let’s make up for that by playing soft with the LBs.

derp! At least the offense is working.

  13. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

One more time where was this play calling the other 14 games

  14. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

    TD!!!Loving some Extra JUICE!!
Literally got pushed in by Lions defender lol 😂

  15. willedav's avatar willedav says:

    hella start

  16. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

2nd and 24, I will bet the house they get the 24

  17. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

That’s like 5 trick plays the Lions have pulled off! Niners never do that, they should of known that was coming but sadly the Defense sucked on 3rd and 24 yikes..

And now Purdy/Pearsall making plays And Purdy scores! Great game for the offenses on both sides with no defense’s at all..

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yep. Missed tackle then the 3rd and 12 prevent defense.

The fucking Chronicle was saying that Sorensen could save his job if the D plays better these last 2 games.

He lost it to me on the first series of the first preseason game.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Funny thing is, this game tonight means nothing. Next week’s game between Deetroit and Minnesota determines who gets the bye week.

I suspect that Deetroit should rest guys for next week, but Campbell has already said he’s going balls to the wall to beat us.

    Yet another case right there.

A stop on 1st down means pass on 2nd 12. We drop into coverage instead of blitzing and give up 15.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Killer penalty? Check.

Shanny pussies out with 7 seconds? Check.

    Missed FG? Check.

  21. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Gawd Moody has to go, every competent FG kicker makes that! 3rd round pick 😬 wtf 😳 he’s a BUST!!

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Thank God we never blitz on 3rd down.

I mean, this 30th in 3rd down stoppage really gives me such confidence.

It has only been a problem ALL FUCKING YEAR.

    So, yeah. Don’t blitz.

  23. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

O looking OK. Deetroit’s defense is not good enough to go anywhere in these playoffs.

  24. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah no problem for the Bates Hotel to kick a FG from 57, Moody no way from 50!

  25. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Terrible.Moody sucks ass.

  26. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

    Goff has all day

  27. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Lynch was so pissed on that score I thought he was going to break the the glass in the booth..

Game should be 31-31 if we had a decent FG kicker.. Bad pick by Purdy got the Lions rolling again..

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, based on this, Sorensen needs to go, Schneider needs to go, and Moody needs to go.
