Staggering Out the Gate

Hey, it was a tough road win. Those are always good, but as usual, we made the game much harder than we should have. We outgained them 415 to 213, won the TOP battle, and nearly doubled the yards per play at 6.8 to 3.7. But we were behind late and had to fight and scratch to eke this one out.

It was a gritty comeback, yes, but the fuckups were what would be fatal to a better team. 3 missed FGs. Terrible red zone play calls. Indecisive moves by Shanny in not going for the 4th down late in the 2nd quarter, the punt fuckup, the 4 penalties on TB’s last drive, Purdy being weirdly soft on a lot of throws, and a defense that looked gassed as the game wore on. The killer was the 4th quarter drive where TB ran the ball down our throats for a 17-13 lead.

And this is coming off the bye. Still and all, Slick Rick Pearsall got his first NFL TD on a sweet deep crosser that he took to the house for a 46 yard TD. CMC came back with some decent runs and a huge 35 yard completion late in the game. Purdy, for his slight tentativeness went 25-36 for 356 yards and 2 TDs.

Still concerning to me is the lack of consistent pressure. WIthout any blitzing or pressure, we do not get any interceptions, despite facing a lot of passes. Baker was pretty bad, going 18/29 for a buck 16 and 2 sacks, but he did get a TD and the weirdest non-sack/4th down conversion in history, and of course we kept them close by going 1-3 in the red zone. and 3-6 for the FGs.

And WTF was the story with Bosa that would have ended it on 4th down?

Baker fends off Bosa with a stiff arm? Hold the arm, which he already had, and drop your ass maybe? Shades of Russ scrambling around and beating us on broken plays.

Yeh, a win is a win but it shouldn’t have been so tough following a BYE.

    Rested and Rusty.

A couple of those rainbow throws Purdy had kinda reminded me of Montana to Clark plays. Until we get both lines fixed we probably won’t overwhelm anyone. As far as missing 3 fucking FG’s I don’t even know what to think about that. Maybe Moody has Steve Sax syndrome. Whatever it is he won’t be around long if that continues. I’m just glad I don’t get as irritated as I used to when we play sloppy I honestly thought we were go lose that one in the 4th.

Great move! Best CB on the team and locked up for the next 5 years. Front office learning lessons?

Im also glad to see Juaun Jennings getting elevated to WR1 for the rest of this year. I’ve been waiting for the team to give him a real opportunity for 2 years. Jennings is now the starting X wide receiver and only costs $7.7 million a year.

Yep. He has turned out to be an excellent player.

Yeah, in the end it looks like we should have traded BA for something and went with Jauan and Pearsall. Hindsight and all, but Jennings would have been the Super Bowl MVP had we won.

And yeah Lenoir is playing fantastic. Good move.

And Wishnowsky’s hurt. Bring back the preseason guy. He was fine.

Presley Harvin. He’s a free agent

More like shit can the ST coach.

Nobody seems to have a clue or a semblance of a scheme.

BYE week for moody Moody and he damn near shit the bed in Tampa.

Bosa also looks like he’s mailing it in.

      Scheme sucks on D too.

We start blitzing and everyone is getting flagged for hands to the face?

No clue what to make of this clown show.

Happy to see Deebo get into attack mode too. Might have sparked the game winning kick.

Caught an Eff you from Pepper during the altercation on the sideline. Good on Deebo for showing some fight. Bosa not so much.

Chuck..Unfortunately the 49ers didn’t go with Presley Harvin they signed P Pat O’Connell to the practice squad and released DT Ty McGill from the practice squad.. One less Big Man Ballin for NJ.. O’Connell has over 600 punts in career and I don’t remember him at all? Then again who knows a punter anyway..

Bosa’s dinged up. He got hurt Thursday in practice. Some kind of hip injury.

No one else is really doing much. Floyd has 3 sacks. If Warner is gonna blitz he needs to watch his hands.

I don’t know if any of you listen to KNBR, I listen to them every Moring and afternoon, they just released Tom Tolbert from the afternoon show. He was a dude I would love to sit in a bar and drink beer with. This was a business decision, just like in sports.

Yeah, saw that on Flav’s blog. Radio is a dying concept. They are cheaping out in a big way. Cirrus and Clear Channel own about 90% of all the radio stations these days. Shame.

Bay Area radio in the 70s was incredible. 5-6 rock stations at any given time from 1970 to about 1995.

107.7 the Bone is OK but it is all that is left of the rock legacy that was the Bay Area.
