Game VII – KC KC KC KC

Here we go. Time to right the ship against the Chiefs. The Niners of course ore 0-4 in the last 4 meetings, including . . . Fuck that. The last time the 49ers beat KC, they had Travis Kelce. And Alex Smith at QB. We had Colin Kaepernick and the 2014 season had yet to crater. KC of course had Mahomes those 4 wins.

Maybe if they finally give Bosa his due and make a couple holding calls, the balance of the game could shift like it should have earlier. Shanahan went as far as complaining about the Super Bowl crew not calloing anything on them, the most penalized line in the NFL. They were supposed to work tomorrrow’s game, but were shifted to Seattle for their tilt against the Falcons.

I guess that’s a good thing. I mean, both Super Bowls had some huge misses on Bosa. But let’s do it tomorrow. Just make the right calls on the field. At least this isn’t in KC.

The surprise of the week is the emergence of Ricky Pearsall getting the start as Jauan Jennings nurses a hip pointer. He had great practices and impressed everyone involved, so that should be exciting.

Hoping against hope this team can start fast and do the job defensively. Still majorly worried about special teams as we audition kicker #3 for the week. Gonna be there, so it would be nice to come home with a win.

Come on, boys, 30-20 Niners. Make it so.

    Maiocco got it right –

Shanahan and his staff have not come up with the right answers enough times this season. And this was another case of the 49ers being out-performed all the way around.Spagnuolo continues to out-scheme Shanahan. The Kansas City defenders had the upper hand against the 49ers, especially on third downs. The 49ers converted just two of 11 third-down attempts (18.2 percent). And the same goes for the 49ers’ defense. Kansas City’s offense was anything but prolific, but it still managed to move the chains on eight of 14 third downs (57.1 percent). And, then, there’s special teams.“We’re going to keep coaching them,” Shanahan said, adding on special teams the 49ers will “continue to work at it and not ignore it.”

Yep. The 3rd down stats are very telling. The Niners earned zero 1st downs in the entire first half (one on penalty). Twice we had 2nd and 2 or less and couldn’t convert.

They did lose Deebo early, and Aiyuk’s drop was huge, but there was no flow, Purdy looked hurried even when he wasn’t, and the run game was stifled fairly often.

What absolutely killed me was watching the 50 yard punt return. The way the team tried to cover it was awful. When the ball was in the air I told my buddy, he’s going left and going to be free and clear. And sure enough he did and was.

Winters’ miss on Mahomes when he faked going OB was flat awful.

For once though, the defense did well till they just were on the field way too long.

Seeing the game at home, Bell fucked up a route that led to a pick, but the other 2 were just bad. Shit play calling on the goal line again.
