Game XIII – The Big Push

Well, here we are poised to make the final push to the playpoffs. I think we really gave Dallas a big head’s up on how to beat Philly. Attack the LBs. Short passes tore them up all day and through the night. Quick runs up the middle gashed them as well. Philly’s offense was stifled by solid CB play.

Us? We just need to keep the pedal down. No slip-ups. No backsliding. We’ve proven we can win on the road, but I sure don’t want to go to Philly in January.

Gonna be an interesting day regarding the playoffs. Philly could go from 1 to 5. We could be #1. Dallas #3. Deetroit #2. Funny I’m not even really paying attention to Deetroit, but they are in the mix. With their weak-ass schedule.

Regarding the baseball Giants from last thread. I read where we picked up another oft-injured A’s pitcher but I can’t think of his name right now. To me this looks like where we left off last year.

No matter what another team does if we fuck up this run it is totally on us. To me we have the best team we have has since the SB years thanks mostly to Purdy and our D-line. I loved the way we played last week it was definitely Walshian. I still don’t trust Shanny to do the right thing yet.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Shit. Nice start but Ward looks hurt.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oliver is gonna get picked on. Ambry didn’t get his head around fast enough.

  4. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Pass rush off to a slow start. Yeah. groin for Ward. Questionable.

  5. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Defense gotta step up in this one. This is gonna be a grinder.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I had to turn the radio off one of the announcers said that CMC wasn’t that good of a running back. I couldn’t listen to em any longer.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Looks like we thought the game was over after that first run.

    Playing like shit.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

WTF???? Shanahan is fucking chickenshit!!! Could have had the ball near midfield with 40 seconds and a couple timeouts.

  9. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Jesus Shanahan u have 3TO’s in your pocket and easily get the ball back near mid field and u let Seahawks run out the clock?? That was stupid clock management!!!

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Refs getting involved. That is a horseshit call on Bell.

  11. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

They are passing all the time and we just sit back and let it happen.

  12. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Kittle to the House TD!!on another beauty by Purdy! 6,000 career receiving yards for Kittle congratulations!!

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fuck, man, these Seattle games are always a battle. I’m mostly glad that Greenlaw wasn’t hurt too bad. He is so key to this defense.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Purdy, the pick notwithstanding had an excellent game. he hit all those deep passes on the goddamn money.

  15. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Hargrave has a hammy, but I haven’t seen any reports yet about its severity. Groins can be tricky so, yeah, hoping Ward’s isn’t too bad, but he was walking gingerly on the sideline. I guess we should be grateful it’s the Cardinals up next, but they always seem to be problematic for the 49ers, just like Seattle is. Ain’t no gimmes in this league.

Purdy has been a fucking revelation. I don’t know how anybody can watch what he’s doing week in and week out and continue to question his talent, but those idiots are out there. This dude is 100% legit and he’s getting better just about every week. The way he reads defenses is uncanny. An unbelievable story.

  16. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

George Kittle’s career as a receiving TE has been rejuvenated since Purdy took over. This team has so many weapons on offense and Purdy doesn’t just find his guys, he develops chemistry with them, “throws them open,” so to speak, and only the greats do that, IMO.

It’s not a fair comparison, but so much of what he does is reminiscent of Montana. Joe always knew where to go with the ball and that was key to running Walsh’s scheme. It’s the same with Shanahan’s offense. I think he’s been waiting all his life for a QB like Brock Purdy. Now we’re seen just how good his offense can be.

What’s that, 5 straight over Seattle? Having lived in the PNW for almost 40 years now, you all have no idea how sweet that is. Nothing shuts these fools up like losing to the 49ers. I’ve caught so much grief over the years when the Seahawks dominated SF. This is sweet revenge.

Oh yeah. Company I worked for had 5-6 stores up there and we had lots of MGMT conferences there. A supervisor had season tickets. Eff em!

  18. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Glad Seattle is done for the year. Listening to the Seattle radio guys I thought we were playing bad but after looking at the highlights we looked really good. The last time I have seen so many big plays on a continuous basis is when we had Rice and Taylor. This team is dangerous. Hope the injuries are not to serious. Great time to be a 49er fan.

Are you in the Seattle area, Winder? You were probably listening to Steve Raible. He’s been their play-by-play guy since Pete Gross died years ago. I can’t stand him myself, way too much of a rah-rah, homer type, but there’s not much about the Seahawks I do like. He even played WR for them back in the eighties.

  19. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Kid made that 60-yarder look easy. Wow.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

I’ll tell you the best throw Purdy made was the one last week to CMC when on a broken play, Purdy somehow communicated to CMC to break his sideline route and turn upfield. He threw a rainbow to the spot where he thought CMC would be if he broke the route. It was perfectand they got 25-30 yards.

  21. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Yeah, that was a sweet play. This kid has a feel for the position that you just can’t teach, nor quantify, which drives NFL talent evaluators nuts. They’ll bite on the measureables almost every time. And just like a pitcher throwing 97 mph does not guarantee success, neither does being able to sling a football 60+ yards. A nice tool, sure, but there’s way more to the position than just that.

And BTW, Purdy’s ball to Deebo today was 47 yards in the air and an absolute dime. For a dink-and-dunk QB, he sure throws it downfield pretty well. And outside the numbers, and over the middle.

As was the case with Montana, Purdy’s arm is a lot better than he gets credit for. More importantly, he’s accurate.

  22. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yep. He had 3 deep balls today that couldn’t have been thrown any better.

19 completions for 368 is flat nuts. Purdy went down to a 122 rating.

Philly’s defense is getting shredded again. And their offense is sputtering.

  23. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    Go Dallas.

  24. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

5 straight games with 70% completion percentage for only the 4th time in NFL history, according to Matt Maiocco anyway.

  25. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Sorry, 7th straight game, tying Drew Brees and Sam Bradford for second all time and one short of Montana’s 1989 record of 8. Not just good numbers, historic numbers. Mr. Irrelevant indeed.

  26. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Haha, the Seahawks get the Eagles next week on MNF. That should be interesting. If the Cowboys can hang on, the Niners will be sitting pretty.

  27. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

Prescott, OTOH, may be the most overrated QB in the league. What a boneheaded play.

  28. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, would be cool to see Philly lose their 3rd in a row to Seattle. Lock actually played pretty well today.

They are no push-overs, 6-7 or not.

  29. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

    #1 seed!

  30. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Dallas took a page out of our playbook tonight, they attack em just like we did last week. They had the Philly defense running in circles at times. Big win for us and fuck Dallas
