Here we go. Game one. On the road. Upstart Steelers. Young QB. Punishing defense.
A great test for the 49ers to kick off the season. And we are the road favorites, getting 2.5 points.
The 49ers come in fully loaded and fully ready. Bosa is back in the fold and I would be real surprised if they limit him much. Kittle is questionable, but I suspect he’ll get in there. We still can’t seem to find a backup TE that can do much more that take up space, as Woerner and Dwelley had a combined 3 catches last season, and Cameron Latu injured his knee and may miss the season.
Mooney Ward is also questionable, which is worrisome, as Pittsburgh is going to attack the Niners secondary deep if we don’t get off the blocks and get pressure early and often. DC Wilks likes to be more aggressive with the blitzing, and I’m happy to hear that, because the Niners need to rattle Pickett and get him uncomfortable. Early. The longer Pittsburgh thinks they can hang with the 49ers, the better shot they’ll have.
They also have local phenom Najee Harris to lead their running attack. He’s as tough as the come. This game ain’t gonna be easy, but I think we can wear them down in the end. All about the mistakes and penalties. Purdy needs to pick up where he left off last year and make the plays in front of him.
This game should be a true grinder. We have been slow starters recently so if this game doesn’t wake up the team then I don’t know what will. Barring injuries we take these guy but this is surely going to be a physical game and that usually takes its toll on us. At least we get this game done at the beginning.
Watch Fox pre game, T Bradshaw says Purdy will be a forever backup QB. Almost spit out my coffee laughing
He was talking about Lance.
Couldn’t draw those first two possessions up any better.
Good start, the Turf looks like it is crap, players on both sides slipping
Burford killing drives. Got to get 7 here. Keep the pressure on and keep Pittsburgh on their heels.
Unreal catch by Aiyoooooook!
Bullshit call there
30 yards in penalties given to Pittsburgh
Lenior 2 huge penalties killed the 49ers who were Dominating! 20-7 but should be pitching a shutout! At one time is was 199-1 yards over Steelers Niners incredible playing..
Other than those two gaffs, he was pretty good overall. That’s encouraging. The boneheaded penalty at the end of the first half was inexcusable, but he’s developing into a good player. I don’t think Oliver even made in on the field today, maybe on ST. That tells you all you need to know about Lenoir.
CMC to the house!! McGivitz needs help. He’s getting killed by Watt.
Get Mitchell in there.
Wow, a few hiccups here and there, to be expected in week 1, but what a dominating performance, from the opening kickoff. Purdy continues to impress, Aiyuk absolutely looks like he’s going to break out big time, McCaffrey is McCaffrey and the defense looks fantastic overall and they figure to get better and better as they settle more into Wilks’ way of doing things. What a game by Fred Warner. He’s on another level these days.
Defense has been Savages all game long!!
3 Sacks by Drake London! Bet nobody saw that one coming..
Javon pops his sack cherry!
Nice warmup for the season. I thanked all the Steeler fans that told me we were going to get spanked, for taking it easy on us.
Purdy shut some haters up,” Bosa said postgame. Love to see defensive players back there offense
The only guy that had a rough day was McGivitz. And he wasn’t horrible, he just got burned a couple times.
Burford was bad too, with three big penalties.
Yeah, he settled down late. The line did well enough.
Some pundits are now saying that Pittsburgh is not a very good team. Well let’s see how other teams do against this Niner D. I am willing to bet that there are OC just shitting their pants right about now!
Pretty funny how the ‘upstart’ Steelers were supposed to take care of business.
The Steelers are OJ and they’ll do alright. But we are top 3 easy.
In-A-Gadda-Da-Defense baby….
Drum solo please 😀
Hey! Good to see you NJ.
Hell of a start.
New thread is up.
