Mr. Rodgers Goes to Sesame Street – Uh, East Rutherford

Well, it finally happened. 18 years after the 49ers passed on the guy, he’s part of another team-altering deal where Aaron leaves the frozen tundra for the swanky suburbs of New Jersey and Tony Soprano. Aaron and the Jets. Oh, it’ll be weird and wonderful. Oh Aaron He is really keen.

The trade includes a swap of first-round picks in this draft. The Packers will pick 13th and the Jets will move to 15.

The Jets are also sending Green Bay a second-round pick (42 overall) and a sixth-round pick (207 overall) in this year’s draft; as well as a 2024 conditional pick that will be a first-round pick if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays for the Jets in 2023, or a second-round pick if he does not.

The Jets also receive a fifth-round pick (No. 170 overall) in this year’s draft.

The trade won’t be official until the terms of Rodgers’ contract are hammered out.

Rodgers is scheduled to make nearly $60 million in 2023 but will likely renegotiate that deal before coming to the Jets. Gonna be a fun year for these Jets. They’ve officially given up on Zack Wilson and I’m sure are looking to improve their defense.

Robert Saleh has his work cut out for him. Not a huge fan of Rodgers but hey, the AFC East looks like a fun division. Belichick is floundering like a mofo so the changing of the guard there is imminent. The Bills are the Bills. They win the division but can’t get through the playoffs. Miami looks to be, uh, I don’;’t know. Mike McDaniel looked like Vince Lambari Jr, leading the Phins to an 8-3 record, but then went 1-5 to stagger into the playoffs and lose a hearbreaker to the Bills. Their Jekyll and Hyde season, and their nearly crippled QB Tua look to improve on their weird year.

The draft just can’t come soon enough. Maybe some of these new sports sites will shut the fuck up. They just make up rumors and print the shit.

Yeah, at least Rodgers to the Niners is a non-talking point.

Now it’s Lamar Jackson in a trade with the 49ers. Lynch’s take is ”yeah, we kicked the tires.” I guess in the hope that baltimore has a massive brain-fart and gives him away for a bag of balls.

It means nothing of course, but it gets another 15 articles from various typing heads out there that his is ‘imminent’.

Whatevs. Tomorrow will be nothing for us barring a massive trade with our 11 low-level picks and a player or 3.

I’ll post something about the draft tomorrow. Wondering where NJ is. I miss his exceptional draft prognistications and analysis.

Hey Guys, sorry to say I am the most unprepared and out of the Draft loop as I’ve ever been in my last 30+ yrs.

Sadly, I’ve been preoccupied with the loss of my Dad within the past year and dealing with all the changes involved.
Chuck thank you for reaching out, means a lot to me.

Hoping to see some unexpected moves from Lynch and Co over the next few nights to get the Lance Q’s settled.
Having a feeling Bill might have Trey on his radar? We’ll see what comes.

Hope you all are doing well….

Sorry for your loss NJ. Good to hear from you though. I am also completely unprepared but that is normal for me during the draft.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Sorry to hear that Marc. Stay strong, my friend.

I’m not completely against a trade of Lance, but I don’t think we get anything remotely valuable unless and until he shows he can play decently. But I really would like to see us draft a QB at some point late.

These guys make their hay drafting late, so we should have a field day.

But, as I usually say at draft time, GET A CORNERBACK!!! And draft O line heavy.

Sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing NJ it’s never easy to lose a loved one! Stay strong!

Damm the new leading NFL player money 💰 wise..QB Lamar Jackson signs 5 years 260M!! Who says u need an agent to get your crazy deal yourself.

  6. unca_chuck says:

$52 mill a year? Holy fuck.

  7. Winder says:

That has been an interesting standoff. Baltimore caved but at this point they pretty much had to. He’s a great player but you know he’s gonna get hammered in a lot of games.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Yep. At some point they have to rethink their offensive strategy if they want him to stay on the field.

Much as I hate Pete Carroll, he had always played it right with Wilson. Russell didn’t run unless the pocket broke down. He was rarely used on designed runs. He was very good at it but it wasn’t designed that way.

  9. Winder says:

I can’t think of another QB that continually gave us as much trouble he did. Seattle was super smart to dump him when they did though.

  10. unca_chuck says:

Yep. Roman Gabriel springs to mind. We had pretty bad teams back then though.
