Speaking of Quarterbacks . . .

. . . Trey lance was spotted hanging out (and throwing) with 2x Super Bowl champ Patrick Mahomes and his gaggle of wide receivers. This of course was not sanctioned by the Chiefs or the NFL as that would be verboten, but Lance decided to crash the party and do some throwing of his own.

Interesting to note, the one pass they show him throw he uses a higher arm angle and quicker release. As noted by Dave Lombardi. Even Mahomes is at a slightly lower arm angle, but his release is quick.

This type of workout would of course be some sort of violation of the CBA so this is all done on their own. Not sure how Lance got invited, but if anything, just watching and learning from Mahomes is a good thing. And the fact that he appears to be altering his motion is a also good thing. His mechanics are pretty scatter-shot, so building a better platform to throw from will be a welcome sight. If he can build consistency, he should be on his way.

These work better in the thread rather than the post.

    Lance and Mahomes.

I knew he needed to work on his arm action but I didn’t realize his footwork was off also. I really hope it works out.

Heard another trade rumor: Lance for Mac Jones straight up. Not sure why either team would do that trade…

    • Winder says:

Yeah Paul that one has been floating around for a little while now. None of it makes any sense and is probably just some sports writer with nothing else to do but blow smoke.

Funny how all the QBs from the 2021 draft class, except for Lawrence, are all struggling.

Zack Wilson looks to be a complete washout, Justin Fields is struggling with a crap team, Mac Jones is on the outs for some reason in NE, and Lance can’t stay on the field and has more than likely been passed by BCB.

Of course we were the one team to throw a ton of picks for the move to get our QB. But that’s all water under the Golden Gate. I hope against hope Lance has a solid year. We seem to have issues keeping our QBs upright, so we need all the depth we can get. This getting close to the prize but not making it is getting very irritating. 2 top notch QBs, for one season anyway, would be a very good thing,

For whatever Grant Cohn is worth, here’s his breakdown of Lance’s throwing motion. I’m sure he stole this dialog from someone else.

Waiting for Bergs to check in on Lance’s mechanics.
