The Young and the Restless – The Old and the Tired

Strange days indeed. The 49ers hope and dreams this season now hang on the young shoulders of 22 year old Brock Purdy. Brock was 4 months old when 45 year old Tom Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots. That’s pretty trippy to think about. As a fan. I wonder how Purdy is holding up wondering how he will do with his first NFL start being against one of the greatest QBs in the history of the game.

Purdy came out playing like a guy who wasn’t scared one bit about the game in front of him. And Mike McDaniel gave him a heavy dose of blitzes to start the 3rd quarter to try and rattle him. Brock calmly beat the blitzes and led the Niners to their 2nd TD of the game to increase the lead to 23-10.

Was this just the workings of a guy who went from clipboard guy to the man and simply rode the adrenaline rush to victory? Can he simply keep playing like he did? Crazy thing is, the players in the locker room give him nothing but respect and accolades as him being a hard worker and a guy who has, as many a player put it, balls. Huevos. Nuts. Cojones.

I guess it’s better to have big balls because Big Dick Nick Mullens got us nowhere. So, next up IS Tom Brady. If anyone watched the Bucs Saints game, you saw Brady underthrow, overthrow, throw behind, and throw picks all night. He looks pretty bad these days, although he did manage to squeak past the hapless Saint with a couple 4th quarter TDs.

So, yeah, Tom Terrifically old can still call upon his arm to win games. But all we have to do is manhandle the Bucs O line and this should not be too hard a game to win. That is, if we can score TDs, unlike the Saints merely knocking on the door all night.

As a side note, the rumors of Jimmy G’s demise are a little exaggerated as word is now that Jimmy doesn’t need surgery, and may be available in 7-8 weeks. Right in the middle of the playoffs.

Playoffs? Playoffs! I guess we will know shortly if Purdy’s game was an aberration or the real deal and we make the playoffs.

I am rooting for the kid, we have had so many players shine and then totally crap out that it’s hard to be to optimistic but I still like the way he looked on the field.

Some people on S media are comparing Purdue to Drew Brees

  3. unca_chuck says:

A bit early for that but what the hell? I’m in.

Joe Montana says 49ers can win Super Bowl with Brock Purdy, advises new QB to ‘just relax’

  5. unca_chuck says:

The fucking Raiders pull a Raiders and blow a 13 point lead to a QB who has been on the team 36 hours. Apparently that was their 4th 13 point lead blown.

    Purdy interview

“I don’t know. There’s been a lot of good things that people have said, both coaches and players. I think the biggest thing is seeing like the older guys, the veterans of the team, just come up to me and tell me like, Hey, like we got you. And even the guys on defense, they’re like, do your thing on offense, we’re going to hold it down and do our part. And then the older guys on offense, like [RB] Christian [McCaffrey] and [TE] George [Kittle] and [WR] Deebo [Samuel], [WR Brandon Aiyuk] B.A., [T] Trent [Williams], all those guys, they’re like, man, we got you. We’re not just going to throw you out there and leave you out there by yourself. They all got my back and I think that’s just been the coolest part about it, so knowing that I’m not alone in this whole thing.”

After this year’s first game, I asked right here, if we really need Dre Greenlaw. It doesn’t matter how good a player is if he is too stupid to win. Dre cleaned his act up since then and I am happy he is on our team.

Last night, a Raider player committed one of the dumbest penalties of all time. It was much worse than what Greenlaw did. And it gave the Rams the game.

I still call a defensive player lining up off-side, a Stubby, because of Daniel Stubbs lining up in the neutral zone 3 times in the 80’s against Green Bay. It cost us the game when a Chet Brooks fumble was returned over a 100 yards for a TD, and called back because of a Stubby.

Jerry Tillery’s unsportsmanlike 15 yards was dumbfounding. If I was a Raiders fan, any really stupid penalty from here forward would have to be called a Tillery.

  8. Winder says:

I only wish we could play the Rams three times this year.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Dre has been close to fucking up a few times. He’s aggravating but his speed is off the charts. When he went down t=in the KC game, all those screens and swing passes killed us.

    From roto world

Nick Bosa (hamstring) is questionable for Week 14 against the Bucs.
Bosa did not practice at all this week, so looks like a long-shot to suit up on Sunday. The 49ers have a matchup with Seattle that could determine the winner of the NFC West in Week 15. That game is on Thursday, so it makes plenty of sense for San Francisco to rest Bosa this week instead of forcing him through the short turnaround while injured. His absence would make things slightly easier for an immobile Tom Brady this week.

Unca- Just had a shot of Angel Envy at BJs tonight. Good shit Maynard. I’ll be getting a bottle. I thought it tasted a bit similar to Blantons. After I have a bottle, I’ll give you a better review. I was impressed with a double shot.
