Game Day XVII – Welcome Back My Friends to the Season that Never Ends

The first game 17 in NFL history, with the added playoff spot adds lots on intrigue as wel would be out without it, but color me disappointed. All signs point to Jiminy Cricket starting. Not happy about that. I thought Lance’s game showed enough progress to allow him the chance to play a meaningful game. But no, Kyle rides with the dead horse, Jimmy G.

And make no mistake, this decision has NOTHING to do with Kyle’s perception of how well Lance grasps the offense. This is strictly Shammy’s bullheadedness getting in the way. Oh well. The hope is after the teams trade 1st quarter pick 6’s, Kyle makes the change.

On the good news side, our defensive backfield is finally back to full health and PI magnets josh Norman and Dontae Johnson will not be starting. Even Ambry Thomas, the guy who is playing well lately is off the COVID list. Al-Saair and Greenlaw are also possibles to play. I hope they can go full speed because they are desperately needed to stop the bubble screens and short shit teams kill us with.

This game will depend on how well Elijah Mitchell can run, and how much pressure we get on Matt Stafford. Do both well, and we can win.

Still think Shanny keeps his spell over McVay. 30-21 Niners.

I was gonna play Karn Evil 9, but this is just too awesome not to play. I’m sure some of you remember when this was part of the CBS Sports intro.

Looks like 3 Rivers, but then it doesn’t. The old Expos stadium?

This is an awesome rendition. I pull it up on youtube every year or so and watch it again. Wish I could have caught ELP live back in the day

Ok. Here it is. Just a little too young for this show, but what a lineup.

As much as I want the Niners to win, if they go down in a ball of flames and it is JG throwing two picks for six, I will be cheering my ass off, I think this is a dumb move by Kyle. He is setting Lance backwards till next season.

  4. barleyfreak's avatar barleyfreak says:

I am not surprised he is starting JG. Steve Young offered some insight (opinion) on how the locker room seems more poised to support a JG start.

Trey is starting next year, without a doubt. JG is gone. I also get it that Shanahanahan says that the goal is to get IN to the playoffs because anything can happen. Most of us have been thinking that we’d be one and done. But if we don’t get in, we’re none and done. I can see JG flailing. I could see Trey losing too though. But I have been wrong at least the last 3 times we played the lambs, so I hope we make it in. And I have no problem with a QB gritting it out through pain, as long as they get it done. If he starts air-mailing throws though, KS had better be ready to bring in Lance. In fact, it would not surprise me if he pulls Lance near the goal line play anyway, ala earlier in the season.

Couldn’t ask for a better game at this time of the season. Crunch time. If we put the pressure on Stafford I wonder how long Mcvay keeps him in there. This is gonna be 49er football today, if Jimmy fucks up i don’t think he will be in there long. Should be the best game of the year.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Williams is out. That might change everything.

  7. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I don’t remember where I read it, but the Niners ran the ball on the Rams, very well. An analyst said that the Rams front D is geared to stop the pass. So we shall see

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Losing Williams is very bad.. We predominantly run left. K’Waun out hurts as well, but as long as Norman is on the sidelines I’m fine.

  9. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Just looking over at the draft results on the column to the right and we only have 2 players from Lynch’s first draft. Kittle and DJ Jones. I guess it’s true about is a gamble. We have 4 from the 2018 draft but that might change soon. We got some great players but we whiffed on a bunch of em also.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Still about the run game for us.

    Ain’ts already up 7-0.

  12. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

As usual the D came to play, let’s see what offensive magic Kyle has dreamed up

  13. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

One thing we’re not changing RB’s every year it’s Elijah Mitchell’s job!! He’s just a beast that can carry the rock with punishing runs and quickness!
Yeah he’s had some injuries but most backs get beat up 🤕.What happens with Sermon next will be interesting?

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jimmy with the 10 yard underthrow. Fucking Hasty had his guy beat and had to wait 5 minutes for the pass to come down.

And Wishnowski with the 30 yard punt.

  15. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

McVay taking a page from Kyle, Niners had the ball for 4+ minutes

  16. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Fuck you Higbee hope your next shenanigans have u carted off the field!!
Sold out on the run, and got burned that would of been a huge momentum turn if they stopped them there..
Shit time of possession sucks right now, and now Jimmy fucking up yikes!!

  17. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Fucking Jimmy G. Thank God we have our 25 yard puntr.

  18. Winder's avatar Winder says:

    yeah, this ain’t working

  19. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

That should just about do it for this one. Better hope a miracle occurs in Atlanta, else this season is over.

  20. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Shamahan has to go..

  21. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

The Genius is actually a moron.

  22. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

We might see Trey at the half

  23. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Anytime you have a injured QB that can’t throw the ball down the field you will not win games. 3rd and 24 and you run the ball…not good

  24. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

A quarter and a half, that’s all it took. I knew this would be a rout, but I thought it’d take a bit longer than this.

  25. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

And they better draft a kicker next year

  26. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

The hallmark of a Shanahan-coached team, constantly shooting themselves in the foot. Mistake after mistake. But he’s a fucking genius. May as well put Lance in now if only for some additional seasoning.

  27. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

5 yard passes isn’t going to cut it

  28. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Shit now Jimmy is throwing worse then Big Ben!!

  29. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

There is the first INT, I said he will throw 2 earlier

  30. Lurker John's avatar Lurker John says:

What the fuck was that supposed to be?
