What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is a’goin’ on Here?

In the immortal words of Slim Pickens, see above. Wow. Just wow. I’m seriously glad I had plans with friends, and didn’t watch this game at all or I would have been once again like Deebo Samuel and screaming at the walls. I did get home in time to see the overtime. And, well, Jimmy was 6-6 for 78 yards and the acrobatic TD by Brandon Aiyuk for the win.

It baffles me no end to see so much good, bad, weird, solid, but in the end inconsistent play from all sides of the team. Jimmy G for him played a great game under a lot of pressure and ended up 27-41 for 296 and 2 TDs. He would have had 3 had Aiyuk been able to make the play in the corner of the end zone so it could have been a little better, but Jimmy still overshoots guys and threw what should have been a pick in what should have been the game winning drive that Robbie (tarnished) Gould fucked up.

Speaking of shitty special teams, Wishnowski is punting for shit lately and got off a 29 yarder yesterday, and we already know about Gould’s shank, but Cincinnati really gave the Niners a huge assist with 2 muffed punts in the 1st half. Throw in a really ticky tacky taunting call, and the 49ers got 10 points off those mistakes.

And, offensively, having Deebo as our running back is paying huge dividends as defenses can’t account for him when he isn’t getting the ball, thus opening up passes to Kittle (13-151, 1TD), and Aiyuk (6-62, 1 TD), and when he is. Samuel had 1 catch for 22 yards, and 8 rushes for 37 yards, and a 22 yard score.

Defensively, the mixed bag was even more mixed as Borrow was under a lot of pressure, but stood tall in the pocket and got a few spectacular passses off immense pressure. Burrow ended up 25-34 for 348 with 2 TDs of his own. One on a crazy 4th and 5 that saw him scramble under pressure and find Ja’Marr Chase in the end zone, Of course we helped some with Ambry Thomas committing fairly incidental hands-to-the-face calls to negate a pick by Jimmie Ward, and a 3rd down sack by Nick Bosa. You know, we can’t get too far ahead to make the game easier.

Speaking of making the game easier, once again the Niners built a 20-6 lead early in the 2nd half, and were outscored 14-zip in the 4th quarter. Offensively and defensively, like the Seattle game, the team went flat on both sides of the bal. The important thing was 6-3 in OT, but this team needs to score consistently across the full 60 minutes to be a better more consistent team.

Hey, learn as we go? Matty Ice and Atlanta is next. The hope is we can healthy up and take someone to the woodshed. Shannys old team I’m sure wants revenge for his Super Bowl efforts on their behalf. Funny thing is, there are 5 teams one game behind us at 6-7, including those Falcons, so it would behoove this team to fucking kick someone’s ass, and give Shanny a shot at playing Trey Lance for a few series. These Goddamn nail-biters are really getting on my nerves.

In the top 5 of my favorite comedies.

Yeah, I gotta admit I was so pissed that it went to OT that I had given us the loss. When I think about it we probably should have lost that game with the running attack we had but Jimmy mistakes and all came through. Even though we play like crap at times we never give up and that says a lot.

  3. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, that’s why that fucking AZ game baffles the shit out of me.

They played SO fucking flat and disinterested. The crowd was itching to go crazy but nothing good ever happened. At least we have a couple home wins to feel good about.

It had been forever since we won at home. The hope is we stomp the shit out of these guys.

    • Winder says:

To me that game showed the weakness in Shanny and his inability to adjust. We looked totally inept in the AZ game.

  4. unca_chuck says:

Steph with the 3 point record 4 minutes into the 1st quarter.

  5. unca_chuck says:

KC nailed us on that one.

Well, the rumor mill is cranking up inside the walls of 4949 Marie DeBartolo Blvd as the recent news that Dee Ford expected to be released by the 49ers turns out was just refuted by Dee Ford.

Mr. Found On Road Dead is still on the team, but the fact that he likely won’t play again is still a thing. And a fact. And he will take his rehab out of the building. Whatever cap savings there will or won’t be has already been factored into this season, so there’s no reason to cut him now anyway.

Slow play it I suppose and see where we are when the next deadline rears its head next year.

Wishnowski had the one shank granted, but his punts which special teams coach Amendola says are the most difficult to catch he’s ever seen, and himself trying to field in practice days a lot..Wishnowski made the Bengals punt returner fumble 2 straight balls leading to points.Hell he deserved a game ball among others.
Game ball for sure on tragic news goes to CB Dontae Johnson who missed the game as his mother suffered a heart attack and passed away in the hospital with Donate by her side.Condolences to family and friends and from all 49ers faithful nation!

Just read where we were awarded the marketing rights to both Mexico and the UK. My guess is we play in both countries in the next 2 years. I just might be a big deal since there are only 6 teams that have those rights.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Mexico? Sure, why not? More money for Dr. Kedorkian and clan. Huzzah.

Maybe the trickle-down is less PI penalties since we are good boys.

I mean really. Travelling 4,000 miles for a home game is a real treat.

  9. unca_chuck says:

UK is a bear. That would be ~11,000 miles of travel. Fucking Tokyo is closer. Trade the UK for the far east.

    • Winder says:

It’s all about the dollars. We haven’t been to the UK for a game in a long time I think the league will get us pretty soon. Just like we haven’t been picked for that espn show in the preseason for a long time either and we will probably have to do that one too. Funny thing is the Niners broadcast all over Mexico but i can’t get any games up here unless they play the fucking Seahawks.

  10. alleykat69 says:

Dee Ford done for the season ( back injury, probably from all the money he carried to the bank)
Good chance his career is over even if the 49ers haven’t officially cut their losses and moved on from him..

    • NJ49ER says:

No see Dee was a waste of money in the end, along with a valuable RD2 Pick.
Better late than never at this point.

  11. NJ49ER says:

Baalke in line for another HC search for JAX.
Meyer kicked out of the NFL for kickin’ his K in practice apparently.
Urban Legend in his own mind has been an overpaid POS for way too long.

  12. unca_chuck says:

Fucking Urban Meyer is a tool. Then again, the Jags are a steaming hot mess of bloody dog shit. And I thought Jim Harbaugh was the douchiest rah-rah recruiter of a head coach in college sports. I just wonder how long (6 months) before some other desperate college throws Meyer $100 million to coach them.

  13. unca_chuck says:

If he was winning though, you have to wonder what they would let slide.

  14. unca_chuck says:

Amazing to watch the Chargers blow 3 4th downs and give KC 9 points..

Really stupid to give KC points.

Scary thing is it looks like Charger TE Donald Parham had a real serious head/neck injury.

  15. unca_chuck says:

I swear, all you need to do is underthrow a deep pass and you will draw a PI 95% of the time.

  16. unca_chuck says:

Unreal. Chiefs have 4th and goal, and go for it down 14-13. Still down 14-13.

  17. unca_chuck says:

Chargers take the ball from their 1, go 98 yards, and fumble on KC’s 1, and then pick off Mahomes on KC’s 6.

    Finally score.. Fucking crazy game.

  18. Irish Kevin says:

The Chargers use a west coast offense, they showed the graphics 37 passes 33 rushes. I wish Kyle would do this

  19. Irish Kevin says:

That looked like the 49er/Chiefs SB.

  20. unca_chuck says:

The Chargers coach is an idiot. He fucked that game five ways from sideways.

  21. unca_chuck says:

Irish, that IS what we are doing.
    Here are our numbers:

    Passes (including sacks) – 426
    Rushes – 378

    Total – 804 plays. 53% passes, 47% runs.

  22. Winder says:

We need to draft smart this year. We need CB’s and both lines bolstered with at least good players. They don’t have to be great but just good. Not sure if the FO has the ability to do that.
