A New Low in a Season of Many Lows

Wow. What a shit show. This team is really good at finding ways to truly disappoint its fans. In a game that should have been at least competitive turned into the Colt McCoy/James Connor show. Who and who you ask? Well, ask DeMeco Ryans. Those two destroyed a defense that shut down Kyler Murray a couple weeks ago. They missed countless tackles, made a couple obligatory stupid penalties and could not stop AZ at all. This team came out flat, uninspired, and was outhit, outplayed, and out-hustled badly in all phases off the game. No Kyler, no DeAndre, no problem.

Gorgeous fall day, and the fans were itching for some solid play, but instead got early turnovers from Kittle and Aiyuk, shoddy tackling, and just uninspired play all around. Jimmy G actually looked real solid, even under pressure, and should have had a better shot at winning this than he did. Instead, James Connor single handedly accounted for 173 yards of offense and Christian Kirk picked up where Hopkins left off for 7/91 himself.

And seriously, why is Josh Norman on the field? He himself prolly has 250 yards of penalties all by himself. He did somehow manage to get Kliff Kingsbury thrown out of the game for taunting. If Ambry can’t get on the field by now, how bad is he?

Fuck, I don’t know anymore. The players get to wear this loss with their lackadaisical fumbles, missed tackles, and stupid penalties, but you really have to wonder if the players have tuned out Shanahan. This team is making the same mistakes over and over and over. Either that, or the coaches just don’t know how to get this team moving in the right direction. They are 0-8 at home, and haven’t won a home game in over a year. The downward spiral continues.

And in other news, the Warriors are 8-1.

This one is not on Garapolo. It is the coaching. Unprepared. Out coached. Out played. End of story. And the season.

  2. Barleyfreak says:

Shanahan didn’t even try to run. Yeah, players played like shit. But they were coached like shit. Do they ever even practice against screenplays?

  3. alleykat69 says:

When a former Scout team player only Colt McCoy( yes 2013 he was a Niner scrub) lights you up like HOF Joe Montana you know the season is lost 😞..
He did however go 1-1 passing in his 49er career 8 years ago lol, maybe that was his buildup for further domination of the 49ers!!

  4. NJ49ER says:

Disturbance of the Ohlone burial grounds?
    I’m not gonna ignore it.

  5. willedav says:

Tackling stood out. How often was running back hit within a yard or two and then broke loose and gained 5-10 more? Same with short passes, when a tackler had a shot to force short or no gain and couldn’t bring guy down who ran away for more yards.’ Not absolving coaches, but these are pro players who have been tackling for many years HS college yada yada. If you can’t make a play then what are you doing on the field?

  6. Winder says:

    Total crapfest.

  7. unca_chuck says:

It’s the overall malaise of the team that struck me yesterday. We were unprepared to play ball. Especially on defense. Like we expected AZ to lay down without Kyler and DeAndre. Connor ran all over us and was untouched catching the ball out of the backfield.

The offense did well enough but the fucking turnovers were killers. Esp Aiyuk’s on the 12.

Again another sloppy game where we looked out of sync and playing catch-up all day.

This coaching staff is not getting this team ready. 9 games into the season and this team has yet to play a complete game for 60 minutes.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Banks still being on the scratch list is very concerning. Brunskill isn’t really stellar out there. But he plays over Banks? It[s not like guard is as demanding to learn as the tackle spot. Yet another flop pick?

    • NJ49ER says:

Makes me wonder what happens if Trey ‘Goffs’ out.
We need a dominant personality in front office with personnel decision making authority.
This bargain basement approach to the GM position is killing this team.
Shades of the Jerruh/Snyder philosophy at work.
Know it all’s that don’t know shit.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, shit happens sometimes. I killed one of them. Not ready to sell the farm on Lynch yet. I just think this coaching staff has proven to have fallen way short of being successful.

Don’t see how they keep their jobs after this latest disaster of a season. Like I said, week 9 in season 5 and they haven’t played a full game yet this year. The defense played like they were going through the motions. The offense played well for a change, but shot themselves in the feet. They need to play the young guys and find out what they have. Ambry Thomas at CB and Banks at guard especially.

Ad nauseum, build the line (C, RG, RT) and draft a CB or 4 and find a different training staff. If they keep Shanny one more year, there will be a mutiny from the fans AND the players.

  10. Winder says:

We have so many problems it’s hard to place blame. The FO has failed without a doubt but a lot of it just doesn’t make sense to me. Once the players start talking then some things should be clearer. So many of our players at one point played lights out football and now they suck. I honestly don’t get it. What I do understand is our drafting has not lived up to what was advertised and it just seems to get worse by the year. Fuck it, the whole thing just makes me sad.

    • NJ49ER says:

The players don’t have a leader Winder.
No one is getting motivated or pushed to perform.
Going through the motions and getting paid.
More concerning is leader’s in the locker room.
No alpha male role model to rally the troops?
Sherman and Staley are gone and that’s it?
      Where’s Kittle?
      Warner?
I know Jimmeh ain’t cut out for it.
      Shanny’s apparently lost them.

      • Winder says:

NJ- you maybe right but I just don’t see the major drop off reasoning. I have always thought that heart, competition, and personal goals motivate players to give 100%. I know that’s not true for a lot of players but these guy are pro’s and it’s not the first time shit doesn’t go as planned. I think it mostly coaching and lack of depth.

      • NJ49ER says:

        My theory is pretty simple.
        LaFleur and Saleh left.
Shanny hasn’t filled the void and Ryans’ got a Secondary that can’t cover or tackle, among other shortcomings.
Definitely a Coaching issue but, professional players will also need motivation when losing doesn’t have consequences.

  11. NJ49ER says:

Maiocco puts it out pretty clearly.
Jed wants to send a good HC/GM relationship message?
    Seriously?
    He’s totally missing the point.
The happy family attitude is for pussies Jed, it’s about winning games and adding another Lombardi to the display case.
At least Maiocco answered my question about why Lynch spoke to the team in Chicago.
Shanny must realize that he’s not in charge of the troops he wants to lead into battle.

  12. unca_chuck says:

All the same fucking shit we’ve been saying here, NJ. Sure, getting along is important, as we didn’t see with Baalke and Harbaugh, but like Maiocco said, trading up for Sermon and not using him, not playing Banks though Brunskill sucks, the Brandon Aiyuk situation, Ambry Thomas not playing for a horrible Norman, Dre Kirkpatrick? Please.

What is going on? Who is making the decisions to play these guys? And if the decision is made not to play them, were they incorrectly evaluated? The season isn’t lost yet, as the whole league appears to be full of .500 teams, but the play on the field is awful. Each week one piece of the team falls apart while others do OK, whether it’s play calling, defense, offense, penalties, turnovers, or clock management or various combinations of these, they take turns fucking up just enough to lose.

We are good enough to be in most games, but bad enough not to finish. In the end, this is a coaching problem. Sure, the players have to hold on to the ball, make tackles, create turnovers, and such, but we so many times have had chances to put games away and have failed. Up to and including the Super Bowl. The Bears game is the ONLY game this season where we took control late. 9 games into the season.

  13. unca_chuck says:

We have too many good players to be this shitty.

    • NJ49ER says:

      Damn straight.
There’s an invisible elephant in the room that hasn’t been discovered or dealt with yet apparently.

  14. Grumpy Guy says:

The Curse of the Yorks continues.

Latest I’m hearing about McGlinchey is that depending on the particulars of the injury, some guys never play again after a torn quad (depends where it tore).

    • NJ49ER says:

It’s a curse of some sort Grump.
I’ve been persuaded by the Ohlone tribe burial grounds factor.
Either way, Jed is a curse of a different sort.
      Something needs to give.

    • unca_chuck says:

He needs to sell and the new owner can rebuild at the old Candlestick site. The fucking stadium in SC can rot. Or sell it to the earthquakes soccer team.

      • NJ49ER says:

Gotta get Denise to approve the move Chuck.
        Jed is a puppet.
Dr York is the defacto head of the operation and he’s a clueless piss analyst.
        Dysfunction Junction.

      • NJ49ER says:

In a perfect world Jed could get Uncle Eddie into the show and run point for Eddie.
Jed is a lame excuse for the CEO right now.

  15. Winder says:

The York’s will never sell the team it’s to much of a golden goose. I don’t even blame Jed for what’s been going on the last couple of years. But, he’s gonna have to make some changes if we are to get out of this. We are right back to the drawing board and I think the only thing to do is turn the FO over once again.

  16. Winder says:

Well the Rams just picked up Beckham and we just waived Hurd. It is just so sad it’s funny.

    • NJ49ER says:

Shanny has whiffed on Hurd, Pettis and Joe Williams so far.
      Who’s next?
Fuckn embarrassing to think about the Picks we’ve wasted.

  17. Irish Kevin says:

    Jalen Heard waived

  18. alleykat69 says:

    Jalen Hurd total BUST!!!!
Had to laugh when I saw an article about him that started out 49ers release a veteran player!
How the fuck can they ever say that when he’s never been in a game his whole career??
I still can’t believe how stupid that pick was when they moved up even to make it.If they moved up pass that bum by 3 picks they had DK Metcalf.Even blowing that one they passed on Terry McLaurin are even RB Darrel Henderson!! This team is fucking clueless drafting players!!Shit I think NJ, Unca,Winder, are the Kat Man could do better drafting!!

  19. alleykat69 says:

Agree NJ ..And no way does Lynch get a pass on Ruben Foster as well.He had the most red flags 🚩 of any player going into the draft…

  20. Grumpy Guy says:

Our whole scouting and drafting department needs to stand down for a few days and evaluate where and why they have been making these errors. Because if the errors continue another year, we’ll have new people across the board.

Character matters. Health matters. Don’t be suckered by the shiny of a nice 40 time.

    • alleykat69 says:

Yeah Grumpy like the usual idiotic Raiders.
Ruggs might have had a fast 40 time but I don’t think they had him clocked at 156 mph killing a lady and her dog being wasted..The only 40 he does now is in prison…

  21. unca_chuck says:

And their 2nd round pick Damon Arnette, released for brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot someone on Instagram.
