The 2020 49ers are 3-0 on the east coast. Seems like we win handily out there. Another fairly easy victory against a team that was supposed to be a lot better than they showed. As Belichick himself said, we were outcoached, outplayed, out hustled, out everythinged.
Sure, Cam Newton looked completely lost as I think he hit on 2 nice passes amid the 3 picks and numerous bounced attempts. The run game was off, and even the QB runs were negated. Belichick walked up to him early in the 3rd quarter and apparently said “you’re out” as Jarrett Stidham came in and actually did a little bit worse.
The defense played well, but that was because the QBs were flat terrible. Edelman had one catch and 3 targets. Don;t know if it is because Fig hasn’t had enough time to absorb the new system, or if he’s toast, but it was an ugly game all around for him. ANd Stidham.
So, a nice easy road win, right? Of course not. Every victory seems to come with a huge price tag. Backup to the backup to the backup, Jeff Wilson, was having a career day as he had put up 112 yards on 17 carries and 3 TDs when he was rolled up during the last TD run, and is out for a while with the dreaded high ankle sprain, and Deebo Samuel pulled a hamstring on a pretty innocuous looking sweep.
Jimmy G looked fairly solid as he went 20-25 for 277 and 2 picks. He even hit a deep 35 yard pass to Brandon Aiyuk, who had a very nice 6 catches for 115 yard day. My only issue is the pass wasn’t thrown inside more. If so, the pass is an easy TD, and we don’t lose Jeff Wilson one play later. One pick was an end-of half hail Mary, but the other was an overthrow of Kittle over the middle.
All in all a solid game that was hyped as the comeuppance of the prodigal QB by his former teacher, but it ended up being the student schooling the master. The Shanahans continued their legacy of being a thorn in Belichick’s side.
You are correct, Chuck. We’ve owned Bill’s ass for decades but none more so than Kyle’s epic domination of the Patriots D during his tenure as Atlanta’s offensive coordinator!
Bears Rams tonight. Should be a good one but I just don’t think either team is for real.
Although I have more faith in the Bears now that The Biscuit is not in the pocket.
Looks like the Rams have this one under control. Our division is a fucking tough one. I like it like that. Maybe we will be able to play a game where we don’t lose a player. It’s amazing that our backups are kicking ass like they have. That is coaches and Lynch being able to spot and utilize talent.
Seattle is gonna be tough. This i yet another game where we are gonna have to win a shootout unless we somehow slow down the seahawks offense.
I don’t see it, but I also didn’t see it with the Rams. Or the Pats.
Yeah, I pretty much feel the same way. After the Miami game I wasn’t sure we would win any game. We play Seattle pretty tough but Wilson is on a record tear and not sure about our defense. Their running game took a hit with carson probably out which means we see Carlos Hyde and whoever else they have. They have been doing their damage through the air and that is our weak spot. So who knows.
I think we can beat the Packers in between, but these two games in Seattle and Nawlins are going to be a bitch. If we were halfway healthy I’d like our chances but we’re not even close. We can still win but each is going to take a nearly perfect game and the defense to come up big time.
Seattle will have to be a perfect game from us. I just don’t see it. Our only shot is to outscore them and be more than 8 points ahead to thwart any comeback.
GB? Sure. All we have to do is get the pass rush going. Having our corners healthy is most important for these next 3 games.
NO is the same thing. None of these teams has much of a defense so scoring is key.
I doubt we see Deebo, Wilson, Mostert, Alexander, or the rest of the walking wounded till after the bye in 4 weeks.
That GB game is on Thursday as well. Hate the short weeks. I wish they could schedule the Thursday games after the bye week.
Got to say, Fred Warner blanketing Edelman the whole game was pretty amazing. All the talk last week was how Belichick would scheme Kittle out of the game, and Shanny/Saleh did it with Warner taking away their best weapon.
Seeing Wilson throw 3 picks Sunday night was kinda encouraging. Like I said, if our DBs play well, we could pull the upset.
We play em pretty tough usually. It has been a little while since they thoroughly kicked our ass. Wilson doesn’t make many mistakes against us.
I wonder if Seattle is gonna pipe in loud 12th man noise. Should be quite different up there without fans.
They pipe in noise, but the limit is 70 db. Nothing like the 130 db the crowd AND the piped in sound produces.
I lost that bet with myself because it turns out I will wet the bed before the world series was over.
TMI, dude.
New thread is up.
