Blinded by the Crash and Burn . . .

With this very unpleasin’
Sneezin’ and wheezin
The calliope crashed to the ground . . .

Yes, it was fun while it lasted. Was that a trap game? Were the Falcons too familiar with their recent offensive coordinator to take advantage? Were we too banged up to compete with a 5-8 team? Or are we not as good as we think?

Whatever the problems were, we had been able to win these kinds of games for the most part. The Pittsburgh game saw 5 turnovers, but we pulled out the win. The Saints game we had the ball last and scored to win the game. The rest were various shades of blowouts. Funny thing is, these three losses all came down to the last play. In fact we were saved by the refs on one play, and denied by the refs on the next. One of the weirder endings as a TD was overturned, and a non-TD overturned to a TD.

The good news is of course, our 5 year playoff drought is over. The bad news? We are back to the 5 seed. The good news is, if we win out, we are the #1 seed based on our wins over NO and GB. The bad news? We have to go through Seattle to get there.

The good news is we control our destiny. Again, like the Thursday night game that wreaked its havoc upon us, we are in a situation where we are banged up and have a tough couple game stretch. The Rams? As pathetic as they looked against the Cowgirls, we have a wasted secondary, and a suddenly anemic pass rush. Not a good combo for the Lambs.

But, we should win. If so, then the season comes down to the Seattle game. In Seattle. Again, we are banged up, and the pass rush has been faltering a bit lately. No Kwon Alexander, no Dee Ford, no Ronald Blair, no D.J. Jones, no Damontre Moore, no Jaquiski Tartt, no K’Waun Williams, and no Richard Sherman. On offense, the big blow of course was Westie Richburg. Ben Garland got his ass handed to him all day, and of course Julio Jones smoked our asses all day.

One would almost feel like resting the starters. But you play to get the week off. The way it’s going it won’t matter either way. The thing is, Seattle is peaking right about now, while we are getting hurt more and more.

Week 10..Atlanta goes into New Orleans a double digit spread and just completely destroyed the Saints 26-9 as Drew Brees was totally ineffective.Thats why they play the games with the clique “On any giving Sunday”! Then the Saints go marching into Atlanta and turn it completely around, go figure?

49ers don’t have to worry about WR Josh Gordon in their rematch, the dumbshit got caught again for substance drug abuse policy(For the 5th time!)and is suspended indefinitely.

I know we are good enough to beat Seattle. We just have to play a good clean game with em. No mistakes. But first we have to take care of the stinking Rams. I think we have to beat both these guys the next couple of weeks or we aren’t gonna go far in the playoffs.

Gotta get these next 2 for the week off Winder.
If that isn’t enough motivation, nothing is.

We also didn’t have Kittle at full strength vs Seattle the first time.
Could be a big difference maker having him healthy in the finale.
Jimmy and the OLine need a much better performance than they made on Sunday for this stretch run to even matter.
Time to put on the big boy pants and get this thing on the rails.

It’s all about Garland. He needs to step up his game big time.Or they need to protect him more.

Gonna go out on a limb and predict an IOL will be a priority in April Draft.
Not sure whether a WR gets higher billing or not at this point.
Ought to be interesting, given our limited resources in Draft capital.

WR has shaken itself out pretty well as Goodwin vanishes and Hurd comes on strong next year. And we keep Sanders. Samuel is coming into his own his rookie year, and Bourne is slowly solidifying into a red-zone threat. 1st round pick is nearly guaranteed to be a C/G unless we go on a FA binge.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I didn’t think we did enough about the O line last offseason, and it is coming to pass.

  6. unca_chuck says:

Just for funzies. I haven’t heard this version in a while. This is Springsteen’s only #1 hit. Except it was for Manfred Mann.

  7. unca_chuck says:

A little good news on the injury front. Richard Sherman and K’waun Williams were back at practice. Full practice.

Barring any setbacks they will be starting this Saturday.

And Kwon Alexander is working out on the side, and there’s a possibility he returns for the playoffs.

Small, but the 49ers can activate up to 2 players from IR for the playoffs. He would be a huge plus.

Four 49ers..Juice,Kittle,Bosa,Sherman have been selected for the Pro Bowl, all as Starters!
Ravens lead the way with 12 players selected…
