Game 7 – Carolina Calling

This game? Funny, I don’t really have a sense of how this one goes.  Vegas has us at 5.5, which is a tick over the 3 points you get for home field. My son things we take them, as do you guys, but I think this one is gonna be a struggle. Everyone keeps saying we haven’t played anyone, but aren’t the Rams someone? Sure, they are on;y 4-3 but they were the NFC Champs last year. But does that make us contenders?

I really don’t know. The defense is for real. That much is obvious. We get constant pressure, and we get turnovers. Even with a backup corner. It’s the offense that I really want to see break out. Jimmy G has been good for stretches, but he still makes ill-advised throws. He reads defenses until he doesn’t. Yeah, we are on a patchwork line ourselves, and that is what worries me about Sunday’s game.

Carolina has 2 solid DEs that have 11 sacks between them. I suspect we run a lot tomorrow as their run D is suspect. What I’d like to see is delayed draws and misdirection. Let these guys overpursue and take advantage of their aggressiveness.

Shooting in the dark, I’ll say 30-27 Niners.

  1. Winder says:

I have a feeling this one is gonna be another defensive game for us and that our offense will struggle. i think that is mostly because just about every WR we have is hurt and out OL is gonna have a real test with these guys. I think we come out on top but it should be low scoring. Robbie will either win it or lose it.

  2. alleykat69 says:

The way we dominated the Rams in their house speaks volumes about this team. The torch may have been passed now to Shanny as the most creative coach in the NFL besides Belicheat.McVay was there for 2 years but the league has caught up to him.Anaylists are all in awe with the schemes Shanny runs, consistently finding mismatches against opponents..

  3. NJ49er says:

    Like our chances here
    Stop McAfery
    Win

  4. unca_chuck says:

McCaffery is their engine so stopping him on runs and screens is mission 1. We should have Warner (or someone) shadow him. Stop him and everything else grinds to a halt.

  5. unca_chuck says:

Good news is Deebo had a full practice as did Pettis. Goodwin was out for personal reasons, so he should play. And Sanders. Same system, so he should be fairly acclimated.

    Kyle Juszczyk FB Knee out
    Mike McGlinchey T Knee out
    Raheem Mostert RB Knee questionable
    Joe Staley T Fibula doubtful
    Ahkello Witherspoon CB Foot out
Marquise Goodwin WR Not Injury Related questionable

  6. McBlahffrey says:

I’ll be shoving my way through that Santa Clara defense the way Chuck shoves Natty Ice and McRibs into his mouth during games.

  7. unca_chuck says:

Matthews released again so it looks like our WR corps is a little bit healthy.

Hurd and Taylor may not return this season.

  8. Winder says:

I didn’t realise that Turner is their OC. This is gonna be a very tough game. Saleh is gonna get taxed the whole game i just hope we can keep up.

  9. Winder says:

Turner made a very young Alex Smith look good.

  10. unca_chuck says:

    It’s all about McCaffrey.

  11. Grumpy Guy says:

What’s the wind situation in Santa Clara today? It’s crazy up in Fairfield; 30ish mph sustained with some gusts up 70 or 80 as lovely Vallejo burns. Could be the second week in a row that weather plays a major factor. Both passing and field goals again could be problematic. Guessing that will help keep the score low.

  12. Grumpy Guy says:

    Inactive today:

WR Marquise Goodwin is not available due to a personal/family situation.

    Other inactives:
    QB C.J. Beathard
    DT Jullian Taylor

    FB Kyle Juszczyk (knee)
    RT Mike McGlinchey (knee)
    CB Ahkello Witherspoon (foot)
    T Joe Staley (fibula).

  13. unca_chuck says:

Walnut creek its blowing about 60 mph gusts. Nuts. Lost half of a 150 year old oak tree,

    • Grumpy Guy says:

Yeah, trees down all over the place around us. At least we have power and no problems with our house.

  14. unca_chuck says:

    Sweet. Very nice drive.

  15. unca_chuck says:

Holding my breath on that. Just drove down to San Ramon and it was insane on 680.

  16. unca_chuck says:

    Yeah, baby!!! Great start.

  17. Winder says:

It’s always insane on 680. That was a nice 1st drive. Broke in Sanders right off the bat.

  18. unca_chuck says:

Gee Jimmy. Horrible pass. Jesus. How do you not see Keuckly?

  19. unca_chuck says:

    Thank God for the D>

    • Winder says:

He’s keep throwing some real questionable passes. He got lucky on the Kittle reception and that was a pretty tight window to Sanders.

  20. unca_chuck says:

Damn. The o is rolling. Kill kill kill.

  21. Irish Kevin says:

Damn Kyle opened up the play book big time! I am loving this!

  22. Irish Kevin says:

It appears the left side of the Panthers D is weak on the run and Kyle is taking advantage

  23. alleykat69 says:

I still have no power in San Carlos!! Fuck PGE!!
Was going to go to my local watering hole, but getting drunk at home instead listening to the game on portable radio 📻 Coleman 2TD’s sweet!
Listening to Papa irritating 😠 though!!

  24. Grumpy Guy says:

How many coaches in the league can go into a game with Norv Turner as OC on the other side, and make Turner look like nothing by comparison?

Kyle’s offense is beginning to look like Walsh’s in 1981 – guys just running wild all over the field, and defenses looking clueless.

  25. Grumpy Guy says:

LOL… Signing this Coleman guy might not have been such a bad idea.

  26. Irish Kevin says:

This running by committee is working very well!! What are the Niners going to do with Mckinnon ?

    • Grumpy Guy says:

He’s gone next year. We need to manage the cap carefully starting this year.

Ward and Armstead probably will move on, too.

  27. Irish Kevin says:

The D will give you a couple of passes but then they will drop yo for a loss!

  28. Grumpy Guy says:

Bosa is a lock for Rookie of the Year.

  29. alleykat69 says:

    Nick Bosa is a savage!!
3sacks today7 for the season,in the running for defensive player of the year for sure!

  30. Irish Kevin says:

I posted earlier in the week about the Niners being 29th in the league in the red zone, after to day that number will be better

  31. alleykat69 says:

    4TD’s for Coleman!!
What a day!! 41-13 and ROLLING!!

  32. Irish Kevin says:

This is truly Bill Walsh football! Don’t let up put the foot on their throat and don’t let up!!

  33. Irish Kevin says:

This was a beat down! No more “the Niners have not played a good D”. Better bring it against the Niners!

  34. Irish Kevin says:

Chuck you were a little off on your score 😂😂😂

  35. Irish Kevin says:

When Carolina made it 13 – 27 one of the announcers said “we have a game now”…uh no, we did not

  36. Grumpy Guy says:

Tevon Coleman ties the 49er team record for TDs in a game with 4. The others, Jerry Rice, and (surprise) Billy Kilmer.

  37. Grumpy Guy says:

Now comes three division games in a row. This is our chance to put the division pretty much away and start positioning ourselves for playoff seed and a first round bye.

Crazy that we’ve come so far so fast as to be able to talk about not just getting into the playoffs, but positioning ourselves to go deep in them.

  38. alleykat69 says:

What do those announcers no jack shit?
This team is unstoppable, the sky’s the limit!
27 sacks in 7 games!! Domination football is what they play!!!

  39. Winder says:

Our defense is just incredible, if we can stay healthy i don’t think anyone can stop us. At least not yet anyway.

  40. Grumpy Guy says:

Well at the end of the road would be the Patriots and Brady, most likely. Like them or Hate them, you’ve got to take them seriously. KS had them beat with the Falcons and then fumbled his clock management at the end. I’d wager he learned from that. Still, it would be a dogfight and a Hell of a game. First we’ve got to get there, though. One step at a time.

  41. alleykat69 says:

Sucks to drop 50 on them and I couldn’t watch it with the fucking PGE BS!!
Man that must of been special to watch! 7-0 49ers!!

  42. unca_chuck says:

Lost power at half time. Went to the Stadium Pub in WC. Still no power but a hell of a game!! Bosa is all world at this point. The pick was phenomenal. ROY and DMVP.

    • Ronald McConnald says:

Don’t lie. You went to McDonalds to gorge yourself to flatulence with 50 pieces of McNuggets and 10 McRibs sandwiches, Not to mention all the vodka milkshakes. Your portions keep getting heftier as the Niners keep winning.

  43. Berger says:

Wow, Niners are scary! That D-line is special. While many were upset that we kept picking D-linemen in the first round I was absolutely loving it! D-lines win championships! Armstead has always been this good, he just hasn’t had a good scheme and talent around him to clean up the messes he makes. Bosa, D-Ford, Defoe and AA! The back ups aren’t too bad either, they allow us to have a good rotation. Great job by Shanahan and Lynch putting this together! Winder said it, if we stay healthy it just could be our year!

    • NJ49er says:

      Protect the QB.
      Sack the QB.
Big nasties all day for me too Berger.

      • Berger says:

How ’bout dem back up OTs!

      • Grumpy Guy says:

That’s the biggest shock about all this, Berger. These two guys are nobodies. A low draft pick and a free agent. They get overmatched on occasion but they’ve done a Hell of a job overall. Even our guards are dominating in the run game, and they are journeymen, too. A lot of it is Shanahan. Defenses are seeing so much going on they’re getting hypnotized. Analysis paralysis. He is spinning straw into gold here, if not outright turning chicken shit into chicken salad. Guy can coach.

  44. Berger says:

How about a new sack dance called the BosaNova!

  45. unca_chuck says:

Man, one of the Coleman running TDs, the line went right, and the DT was unblocked. Their guy stood there frozen as Coleman ran right by him. The guy had no idea what was going on. Crazy.

    • Gold Rushed says:

Actually, that was the 49ers mascot standing there and you were too crunk to know the difference.

  46. rob says:

Yeah bois here we go !!!

  47. rob says:

    De-fense !!!

  48. rob says:

Been busy but obviously loving every minute of it !

  49. Rob says:

Been busy but obviously loving every minute of it

  50. Rob says:

    Hey Chuckles

  51. Winder says:

I am liking Lynch more and more. For the last couple of years when we didn’t do so well he was out in front of it and showed his face. He was always getting face time with KS and participating in all that stuff. Now we are doing fantastic he doesn’t do any of that public stuff anymore. He is totally staying in the background along with Jed which is where they should be. I think he turned out to be a fantastic hire.

  52. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Things are looking up. Been a struggle, but hey this is just the beginning.

  53. Flavor says:

a good reminder that twitter can be wrong
