We may not be playing, but there are still games. Most notably, the unexpectedly 3-0 Bills, with stalwart Frank Gore, at home against the 3-0 Patriots. We’ll see how real Buffalo is. I’m mildly interested to see how Seattle does against the 4th quarter wonder Cardinals. Other than that, no real scintillating games.
This season seems to be not very parity-laden as far as the NFL goes. Lots of have-nots and haves. It’s early but there are a lot of shitty teams out there. Seven 0-3 teams among the flotsam. 6 unbeatens in the top tier. Tanking, a la Miami and the NBA, is becoming a thing, apparently.
Still, though, the surprising unbeaten Lions vs the Chiefs should be fun. Browns Ravens? Interesting in that the busy Browns could very well roll into MNF next week 1-3. Something I’m sure wasn’t foreseen by their desperately hopeful fans.
Sunday night’s game finally looks like a good one as the 3-0 Cowboys travel to the Big Easy and the Bridgewater Saints.
Thanks for the history lesson, folks. Neville Chamberlain sure didn’t comport himself very well leading up to the war. The British aristocracy and the people were at vastly opposing viewpoints.
America on the other hand wes coming out of the great depression and was not keen on being dragged into another world war. Public sentiment here WAS to remain out of it due to the huge losses suffered in WW I. Sure there were Nazi sympathizers here and there. We have them here now. As a part of staying out of it or going, it wasn’t a big part of the reasoning. At least here. England was a different story.
Since you bring it up:
Americas huge losses in WW1= 320,000 killed, injured or missing.
Britains = 3,200,000 killed, injured or missing.
Brits were also coming off a devastating Great Depression themselves, and still paying off WW1 costs.
Chamberlain, although no hero figure, is the guy who took the Brits to war against the Germans, albeit reluctantly, see stats above.
That the government had little appetite for war and finally declared is hardly surprising. Nazi sympathizers?
“Read a damn book man”, RT. High opinion of yourself RT, assuming because someone doesn’t share your opinion that they are unread.
A couple of pieces of info: I’ve stood on the battlefield, Boridino, just outside of Moscow, twice, and been into the museum there, not only reading about it but experiencing it. Oddly enough its the exact same place that Napoleon was stopped, the cannon and gun emplacements still there, next to the Panzer tanks.
I’ve also been to their WW2 war museum in Moscow more than twice, its in “Victory Park” and is listed in the top 12 war museums in the world and is spectacular (https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/best-military-museums/index.html).
I saw something there I haven’t seen in any of the other allied war museums I’ve visited, flags of America, Britain and France as a tribute to the allies. Never seen a Russian flag tribute elsewhere.
Despite being American I was raised in England, where they teach real world history, not the shortened version taught here ( I know the difference, my kids were all raised here).
Looking back on decisions made in real time is 20/20, hearing that if only the Brits had teamed up with the Czech army they would have defeated the Germans is pure conjecture and IMO highly unlikely.
Funny thing, traveling to other places and seeing first hand, reading first hand, gives one a broader perspective than just reading after the fact, written opinions of others, who are judging actions after the fact. But that’s just my opinion, others may vary.
I’m done with this subject, sorry if it bored anybody.
Reluctantly? Chamberlain basically let Germany take over most of Europe piece by piece and ignored treaty by ignored treaty as Hitler took turns appeasing Neville and blowing him off. Neville was seriously out of touch about Hitler and his intentions way after the horse was out of the barn.
First Head Coach firing Jay Gruden Book it!!
Washington has nothing going, they stink on both sides of the ball.In a desperate attempt to save his job, he benched Case Kennum who stinks, for his rookie QB Haskins who’s not ready for the show..
Last Game for Gruden are it should be,Snyder should resign ownership as well, being one of the dumbest owners of all time..
Josh Allen knocked cold. Buff in the game, but Allen is at least sitting up.
This blog needs to take a bye week.
And you need to take a dirt nap.
Niners may gain 1st place after all. TB up 31-20 on the Rams late 3rd quarter.
Crazy ass Rams game. 48-40 TB. 2:35 left.
A Timmy Lincecum number 55 will wrap up a win for Tampa Bay..55-40 shit I should of bet the over!!
1st place 49ers has a nice feel early on!!
I love it. The Rams can be had. i think the last time we won a game after the bye was in 2011. we haven’t had good luck with that. i didn’t watch any games today instead I got some stuff done that I needed to do so i didn’t see how good the Browns actually looked. i am glad i didn’t bet any this week or I would have lost my ass.
Can’t look past the Browns who may actually have a football team this year. But in two weeks I hope Shanahan has looked at the Tampa Bay film about a hundred times. TB showed how to beat the Ram offense. On the other side, contain Gurley and beat the living Hell out of Goff. Simple, but not easy.
It’s all about the pressure, Grump. TB got pressure all day with their base D line. We have shown that ability so I’m good with that. Didn’t see any of the Browns game, but I heard they ran well against the Ravens D. Don’t think we will give up too much to their run game.
Myles Garrett is Myles Garrett though, so you have to account for him and their defense. I think we can easily outscore them though.
I have Hot Chubb Time Machine on my fantasy team, he went berserk today 20 rushes 165 yards with a 88 yard TD run plus 3 catches for 18 yards.
Yeah their stupid coach Kitchens must of heard me screaming 😱 to unleash hell..
49ers will have to lock him down, glad the games here..
Frankly I’m glad Dee Ford and Nick Bosa are getting healed up. Baker isn’t very mobile or fast so I think we can pressure him into mistakes.
Saints should be ahead by 21 but are getting killed by penalties.
“I have a hot chubb” Things I don’t want to read on my blog.
just kidding
hyuk!
Drum roll 🥁
Jesus, I’m beginning to feel sorry for defensive guru Vic Fazio. Now 0-4 as Jacksonville of all people carved up his pathetic defense with Fournette rushing for 225 yards! Elway’s a joke thinking Flacco was going to do much and now Fazio’s thinking 🤔 shit I finally get a head coach gig and I might not last the season..
Niners are #1 seed in the NFC!
Vic Fangio waits 30 years to finally get a shot as head coach, and he’s got horse-face picking QBs for him. 0-4. Ouch. And he somehow slowed his own pass rushers down to ineffectiveness.
More reason to hold CJ out there perhaps…
Don’t forget about all the titles my D won for the 49ers!!…..
….None
Gardner Minshew. Fuckin’ A. man.
You can’t even spell “Here We Go”? It’s time to start impeachment hearings to remove Chuckles from the office of blog moderation
I have no idea what you are talking about
Raiders Idiot Burfuit suspended for the season on his helmet to helmet hit on Indy’s TD Jack Doyle..
It was pretty vicious and with his past record of reckless play and suspensions an easy call to kick his sorry ass out of the league..
Just saw that.He was the one to lay out AB last year. He was fined $115k and suspended 3 games.
He’s gotten almost as many suspensions as 49er players have gotten DUIs and domestic battery charges
Only 5 years late. Brilliant.
I have just posted another very important link over on 49ers Outsider, your online re-election party blog for Trump. Not some Ukrainian loser like Biden.
New thread is up.
