Interesting News Out of Oaktown

Kyler Murray, outfielder and the Oakland A’s first round draft pick (and Oklahoma star QB), is expected to come out and announce that he’s eligible for the 2019 draft. Why is this news to us? Well, Murray is getting a lot of hype as being the big prize now that he’s foregoing his senior year (which he told the A’s he was going to play), and enter the 2019 NFL draft.

Interesting still is the fact that new AZ coach Kliff Kingsbury was singing the praises of Murray last year as the head coach of Texas. Said Kyler was a first round talent. Lo and behold, look who holds the first round pick in the upcoming draft. Kingsbury. Could this possibly happen that AZ goes for Murray, trades Rosen, and basically gives us the first  shot at a premier pass rusher? Shit, we may even be in a position to do what we did with the Bears a couple years ago and trade down 2-3 spots and still get our guy should someone come begging to move up for Dwayne Haskins.

  1. Kyler Murrrrray says:

If Arizona drafts me I will be licking my balls until the day I get to my asshole.

  2. Winder says:

It doesn’t matter to me who we get as long as we don’t whiff on the pick (Thomas). Maybe Thomas will come into his own this year but so far he’s pretty much a dud for a #3 pick. Foster to me was a good gamble that just didn’t turn out, I would have done that one too. Lynch did nail it with McGlinchy though and we need that kind of pick again. The reality of our situation is that there really is no quick fix and we really need to nail the FA market and the draft this year.

    Murray is a midget
Haskins would drive the deals with AZ.
Bluto Keim is the question. Will he reel in a bounty from someone?

  4. NJ49er says:

We could still be in a good spot if Lynch is willing to gamble.
Ferrell declared and adds value to top 10.
I’m thinking as Winder is. One guy doesn’t put us over the top.
Add Picks whenever you can. Especially when we’re in this slot again.
Be nice if Haskins drives serious interest at 1.
Hot commodity in this Class is DE.

One guy CAN put us over the top. A pass rush is the biggest gap in this team right now. A solid pass rush will create more turnovers, make the secondary look better, and get the defense off the field faster.

Look at the Bears. Pre-Mack, the Bears were 5-11. With Mack they were 12-4. Last to first. The rest of the team was pretty much the same.

He created the same amount of turnovers as the entire 49er team (7). I wanted him like a mofo when he was up for grabs, but I saw little hope of Prince Valiant dealing with Paraag and ol’ Jed the mountaineer.

      I’ll rephrase Chuck.
Depth at DE is substantial. Getting more than one Pick helps other areas of need.
It’s about playing poker with slot 2 for Lynch.
I’ll use Jaylon Ferguson as an example.
If they feel Jaylon could be had at Pick 10 by passing on Bosa at 2, I’d grab extra Picks.
Moving up in other RDs requires ammo.
We’ve only got 5 this year.
One good rusher is coveted of course but, no reason to think you couldn’t find him after Pick 2.
Simply hoping for someone to throw a major offer our way.

Greg Roman is the Ravens new OC…

From one Harbaugh to the other. Wonder when the axe falls on St. Jim.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Speaking of the angry Harbaugh, there are rumblings through the grapevine that the Dolphins may come calling for him. Miami said they aren’t pursuing him, but that was before Gase was fired, and then hired by the Jets.

I wouldn’t mine moving down a few spots and grabbing Greedy Williams who could be a shutdown corner for years and then grab your DL edge passer with your 2nd pick..
