Let the Sleeping Dogs Die ! ! !

The Brew Crew so far is obliterating the Dodgers pitching while their pitching has shut down the Dodger attack. Not really watching, but hey seeing that 6-2 score yesterday in the top of the 9th was very nifty. Patrick Bailey is apparently putting his stamp on the Guardicles team as he cranks up the power. Yes, it’l disappear like a mirage soon, but hey, ride it while it lasts.

Brewers and Guardicles would be a cool series.

Go Milwaukee! Fuck the Dodgers.

I woulda gone to Chicago if both teams had made it. Got a cousin who is a die-hard White Sox fan. I may have to check it out if they do make it.

I love watching Sale pitch. 97-99 heat plus change and slider. 6 ks through 2 innings: Freeman Smith Ohtani Pages Rojas Enrigque.

Dubon’s career sure has taken flight since his days stumbling around in SF.

    • bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy says:

So true Xoot. Like Paul pointed out the other day, seeing so many former Giants contributing to their respective post-season teams is rather depressing. That steal by Dubon off Freeman’s long ball was pretty spectacular but I was even more impressed by his toss from the corner in deep-left. Dang, he almost got it all the way to first base to pick off Betts.

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

As you said, Dusty helped get him on right path. Having another fine season for ATL.

  4. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Dogs getting better swings against Sale 2nd/3rd time around. Dubon saved HR earlier couldn’t save other one.

FA Nick Martinez goes for Rays tonight. Had great season for them 31 starts 3.10 ERA–how do Rays do this? Meanwhile Mahle on mound as Braves try to stay alive, as do Padres with Buehler.

  6. xoot's avatar xoot says:

is Will Venable wearing meta Rayban smart glasses? AI bench coach? Hell, mlb legal?

  7. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Mahle went 6.1 gave up 3 hits 2 runs/1 earned vs. Dodgers 1 BB/4 Ks. Faced 23 batters, 4 got on base and Saddled with L as Braves offense self destructed.

Is there any hope Giants coaching staff can help them develop all the young arms in the system, including all the ones Posey acquired at deadline? do they have any clue what is going on with who they have, given Vitello’s guy Frank Anderson as Director of ML pitching?

    • xoot's avatar xoot says:

you’d think posey would be asking the same question. Mahle’s 2026 turnaround supports an indictment. He knows it. I wonder if it’s individual technique tweaking or opposing hitter game prep that makes the difference? Either way or both I bet the Giants are deficient.

Same questions were asked when Harrison got some coaching in Milwaukee and was pitching well, before his inevitable injury, of course. Seemed like they had a good pitching coach for a couple of years there, don’t remember his name, don’t know what happened to him, but yes, it appears to be a somewhat glaring issue for the team at this point.

I just saw Sudden (6 pack) Sam passed the other day at 84. Horrific trade for us but really amazing what he did after baseball…

Rags used to be the pitcher whisperer but those days are long gone.

Patrick Bailey sighting in the Guardicles game. Go Sox!!

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh well. I’d have to hit Chicago if they go to the series.

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

Guards are intriguing, kinda like em and manager Steven Vogt. Yes Bailey had solo HR and rbi single as Sox pen fell apart. They traded for Bailey, and the other C Austin Hedges is also basically career backup not known for his hitting.

Batten down the hatches, Winder. Good luck.

Storming of football field in Lexington, as converted 2 point XP beats Kiffin and LSU in OT 35-34.

Meanwhile 21 Ks by whiff Sox in 2-0 L to Guards. Caught last couple innings, unreal pitching by guards pen.

      • xoot's avatar xoot says:

My son got pretty excited over Ky whipping Kiffin. Maybe I’ve mentioned, the in house counsel for the raiders told me (over margaritas at an elementary school age birthday party) that the team kept a lane kiffin dart board on the wall at their alameda HQ. Everyone hates that guy yet he’s still around.

Sox k’ed 75 times in the 5 games.

      • willedav's avatar willedav says:

I only saw last drive when Cats were down 34-27. After TD Coach signaled go for 2 and W, followed by multiple time outs. the set up for final play was wild–only 5 down linemen and QB with everyone else out wide from 3. The LSU 4 down d line spread out against tackles and on the snap the QB went straight up middle untouched for the score.

Yeah, if Giants FO is still not clear on what they need to do in this offseason, I sure hope they were reminded by watching that performance by Cleveland pitchers, from the starter to the last reliever. Buster knows. He caught great pitching. They’d better not make the same mistake they made last offseason of ignoring the pitching….

    • xoot's avatar xoot says:

I wonder if Vogt’s staff is deep enough to do that for more than one game in a row. Pitching depth seems elusive these days.

      • Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Guess we’ll find out as the series goes. One thing is certain, Giants were nowhere near being able to do that for even one game all season…

  13. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

    Yeah, baby…

The Brew Crew with a tough win at home.

    How bout them Niners?

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

      yeah good stuff.

      3 more for Brewers, pls.

      • xoot's avatar xoot says:

Brewers took care of the bums yesterday, huh? Very promising. Took only a year for Ohtani to metamorph from the best player in baseball history to a slap hitting DH who doesn’t dare try to steal a base. Hope that continues.

  15. willedav's avatar willedav says:

Brewers hold serve at home. Knock Yamamoto out early and add on against Dogs pen. 2 down…

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Nice start for the Brew Crew.

  17. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Yes, great to see them take the first 2 games. They can’t let up, though. Was it ’77 or ’78, can’t remember, Dogs/Yankees, and LA took first 2 at home easily. Still remember Davy Lopes circling the bases after a HR with his arm in the air. I remember thinking, f-k you, asshole, while also thinking, damn, LA up 2. I think NY didn’t lose again that series. Milwaukee, it could happen to you. Baseball Universe begs you to not let that happen.

  18. bassbaldy's avatar bassbaldy says:

    Ha! Bailey.

  19. xoot's avatar xoot says:

Patrick Bailey’s having a fine PS for a backup.

  20. Paul Sorensen's avatar Paul Sorensen says:

Maybe it’s more normal than I think, but it still amazes me how many recent ex-Giants were playing in the post season this year. I didn’t check the rosters, but off the top of my head, I think 4 of the 6 teams in the NL and 4 of the 6 teams in the AL all had recently former Giants. Around a dozen players. Could practically have constructed a full lineup. Pitchers Ray, Snell, Mahle, Hicks, Miller, I think the lefty Rogers too. Position players Ramos, Bailey, Dubon, Smith, Yaz, Arraez… and I’m guessing I’m forgetting one or two. I have no conclusions to draw from this, it’s just an observation that seems flat out weird.

Super Bowl Win, Purdy Please
