In what turned out to be a pretty entertaining season ended with a thud. But you really have to tip your cap to the team for overcoming monumental injuries to just about everyone in a uniform. Except for the guy everyone was worried about. Christian McCaffery.
This ragtag bunch of players, and a lot of rookies, weaved their way through what turned into a pretty tough schedule, beating 4 playoff teams, and even managing to knock off the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles before yesterday’s anti-climactic end.
So one of the positives is a lot of rookies got a lot of playing time. Williams, Collins, Stout, and West all played well. And Sigle showed flashes late. But we all know the issues. Besides the injuries. The O line is in bad shape. We are very thin at WR. We could use an RB, or Kyle needs to use who he has. We did pick up a ton of decent LBs as the team went to 4th string guys, but man, they really need to do something different in regards to training and getting guys ready. The injuries are simply killing us just about every season.
Or maybe it’s the fucking EMFs from the PGE power station next door.
All in all, this was a pretty spectacular coaching job on both sides of the ball, but a season that started out so extraordinary going 4-1 with 3 wins over our division rivals, ended with backups and backups to backups all over the field. ANd it sure looks like RObert Saleh will get another shot as HC somewhere soon.
And to add insult to injury, the fucking Rams beat the Bears in OT. Fuck.

Niners have the 27th pick in the draft and 7 picks should be in play. I think the current draft was outstanding and another of that percentage of hits is necessary again next draft.
How can they address run defense issues?
I think the only way we become successful for any long haul is do a meat and potato’s draft. I know we are gonna have holes here and there but our weakness showed on both lines. We have to address that and LB too. We can pick up some in trades and FA also. There are gonna be a lot of RB’s and WR’s Floating around in FA.
I think the answers are already there.
Bosa and Williams coming back is a massive upgrade and then a rotation of Huff, Collins, CJ West and some of the remaining depth guys plus hopefully a DE rusher draft pic.
The leaky second level gets fixed with the return of Warner, Hendricks and Winters.
They already have good strong safeties who
West did OK. Williams was great till hurt. Collins did well too.
More about health but depth would be nice.

The O line should be the top priority, they got pushed around like rag dolls, Puni, Williams and Mckivitz need to step up their game, replace the rest. We? At least I have been bitching about the O line since the Alex Smith days. When all the Niners wanted to do was run the ball because of F. Gore. Singletary, Nolan, and to some extent Harbaugh, wouldn’t have known a pass if it reached up and bit them in the ass. The O line was good for run game but were crap at pass protection. Unless the Niners wanted their $45 million QB to be crushed like in the last regular season game.
McDermott is a shock.

Titans need their draft picks for D. Last year they got QB Cam Ward and they have an excellent LG and a previous 1st in their RT. Their LT is a high regarded FA from last year.
They need a new OC so maybe Brendel and Hennessy can let them stay with all high picks to D. Their D needs edge and DT to help DT Simmons. We all know Saleh has a hard on for the front seven anyway.

LG : Titans have a franchise 1st rd pick but a depth piece in Burford who is a free agent.
OC : Lloyd Cushenberry did not work for them and may get released. Send Brendel and Hennessy for draft picks.
We keep our LT for another year. Our 27th slot is way too low to have any hope in this position . First two picks are LG and OC for us. If we are lucky and get a 2nd for Jones then get best OC with athleticism for ZBS ans size and feet for pass pro in the 1st. In the 2nd are LG and WR.
Already Mac is selling himself as a proven starter, a PhD in QB from Shanahan U. He wouldn’t be selling himself without the blessin̈g of Shanalynch.
Is this a strong QB year for this draft. If not can we get a late 1st pick for him. NY Jets?

IIRC, when Shanahan first became HC he wanted Gus Bradley as DC. Bradley went to the Chargers instead.
With Saleh gone it looks like Shanahan gets his original choice.
Bradley was apparently in charge of red zone D, which was ranked 14th in the league, whereas the D was ranked 24th overall, thats according to David (boring AF charts) Lombardi.
If I was Shanahan I would go with Bradley, he taught this system to Saleh and keeping continuity is very important.
Yeah, I’m hoping for Bradley as well. With health and a little more depth, this defense should be fine.
