Saturday Night Special

Onward and upward to Seattle. Hate to jinx it but I’m feeling better about this game than the last meeting between these two teams. Mainly because of Trent Williams being here, Ricky Pearsall getting some limited action, Juice filling in nicely for the injured Kittle, and most importantly Robert Saleh trusting his linebacking corps being able to support the run more and play up instead of in no-man’s (zone) land.

Beyond that, Sourdough Sam has his own lingering oblique (obtuse?) injury (and BTW how do you get hurt during the bye week?) but anyway, he has the ignominy of his major crash-and-burn in last year’s playoff in Minnesota to deal with. So, as I’ve said a thousand times, when it is 3rd and long, blitz the fuck out of Darnold. Hit him and he’s skittish for the rest of the game.

As usual, stop the run, and get CMC going. I would love to also see two TE sets with Juice in front of CMC. If Seattle is gonna play their nickel to stop our run, we need to bring the beef and hit ’em in the mouth at the line.

This game kinda reminds me of the 60’s Bears when Butkus was destroying anyone in his space. The Bears didn’t win a whole lot of games in those years but no team ever wanted to play them. So tomorrow night I would love to see us bring everything we got don’t let up play 49er football and make sure they feel it.

  2. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, they drafted Butkus and Sayers 3 and 4 AFTER the 49ers drafted Ken (3 yards and a cloud of dust) Willard at 2. And they still struggled terribly.

Huh. 5 of the 7 NFL Network commentators picked the Niners to win this game.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Due to Darnold being questionable (if not for the game, for playing injured).

      • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah I could see that Blade, we will be able to tell on Sourdough Sam Ithe 1st thru drives he plays! If he’s in the pocket the oblique won’t affect him as much as rolling out imo which should affect is mobility imo..

My theory go after him hard, and hit him in the right knee, hit him in the left knee, hit him in the weenie!

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

        I’m down with that AK!

  3. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Quite a hit that linebacker, Williams, took on the opening kickoff. Helmet to helmet. Ouch!

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Both those players injured per the sideline reporter. This hurts more for Denver(LB is really good and will be missed).

Good! I hope they lose this fucking game. So far, they are blowing it with an easy TD catch (oops! A miss); and, poor coverage on Bill receivers.

  4. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Tackle Eligible Lineman Crum??gets a TD as Peyton pulling out all stops in this game as that was sure not a crummy play call..

  5. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Bills (QB) really blew that last 30 seconds or so of play. lmao . . .

  6. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    . . . and another turnover.

  7. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

If I typed “morons” into my GPS, I’d end up in the Bills huddle.

  8. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Crazy game Nix with a Pick and Allen follows it up by a pick as well! Turnover feast all of a sudden..

  9. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Yeah AK, it’s like neither team wants it. lqtm.

  10. willedav's avatar willedav says:

surprised at all the QB runs Bills call, but they seem to work.

    Hope they can hold on.

    Buffalo 66 is hilarious movie.

I got to watch that movie Willie . . . Any movie that has a cast of Ben Gazzara, Jan Michael Vincent, Anjelica Huston, Christina Ricci, Rossana Arquete, Mickey Rourke and other . . . umm, “eccentric” or weird cast members, I want to see. Not to mention it is one of the greatest independent movies I have yet to see. Thanks for the reminder Willie.

  13. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well that’s not the way to start

  14. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

    Kyle still deferring

  15. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    ???? . . . Not the start I envisioned.

  16. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Unreal so much for the ST great play for most of the season

  17. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

Brilliant. Up the middle in a cloud of dust. Next . . .

  18. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Jesus.How stupid.

  19. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Their D has 10 guys inside 10 yards

  20. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

2 runs got you nothing, the pass would have gotten you a 1st down,

  21. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

winters kept the 9ers in the game

  22. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

And now a Tonges fumble after the catch! The Nightmare continues!!

  23. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well the D came to play

  24. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    Gee. Every mistake possible.

  25. Locojuan's avatar Locojuan says:

    Fuck,

  26. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

    We were favored? Hilarious.

  27. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

    Not exactly an ideal start.

Renardo Green got a serious chewing from Shanahan, he missed 2 assignments in a row, really bad.

  28. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Kyle needs to call two plays and go no huddle on the second play

  29. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

I don’t think I’m suicidal but that Saturday Night Special looks like a bad omen right now Chuck

  30. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Have to score this drive to have any chance

  31. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Kyle the clock watcher, would rather burn the clock than score quickly

  32. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Well the shut out is off the board atleast!

Oh wait they only got 3 points last game?

Geez I’m still on suicide watch 😫

  33. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, if we can drive 96 yards . . .

  34. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Wow devastating news for the Broncos after their win over Buffalo..
QB Bo Nix is out for the Championship game with a broken ankle!

  35. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Good news, 9ers have already scored double the points of the last game and it’s only the 2nd qtr!

  36. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Ok, time for Darnold to gift the ball

  37. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Almost. Never did see the BS holding call.

  38. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well a lot of adjustments to do

  39. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Jesus. No blocking no running no problem!

  40. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Shanny with the retarded calls. The 4th down sweep and that 3rd down one are horrible.

Maybe we pay attention to the O line now.

  41. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Jordan James had a good snap, his first of the year.

  42. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Even when they pressure Darnald he gets the pass off.

  43. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Everything working for the Seahawks and nothing and I mean nothing is working for the Niners!

  44. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

    CMC and Tonges out.

    woo hoo

  45. Locojuan's avatar Locojuan says:

    What a shit show.

  46. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado says:

I should be used to this, as the SF Giants are masters of how to score 3 or less points (runs).

  47. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

    Tough day at the office.

Regroup, get healthy over the off-season, do a little trading and another draft, should be better than this year.

Unless the crazy injuries come again of course.

  48. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Pull CMC ,its pointless risking him, same with Purdy.

Jordan James looks like RB 2 next season.

  49. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Crap end to a weird season. They won by smoke and mirrors against a lot of suspect teams, and snuck one past the Iggles thank God.

But the O line issues were gigantic and the injuries waaaaaay too tough to overcome.

My only solace is any team with a decent pass rush will eat Darnold for lunch. All the AFC teams.

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Amazing season under extremely difficult circumstances and they came up a little short.

They got some great game experience for a bunch of rookies and depth guys that will pay off next year.

Heck of a coaching job across the board and I will be sorry to see Saleh and possibly Kubiak leave.

Proud of this year’s team and the season was entertaining as hell.

      Go Niners!

  50. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I am proud of the Niners too. Amazing that we made it so far this year. Seattle has built a defense and they will be back again next year so we have to draft good.

  51. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Its a widespread belief that the Niners had an easy trength of schedule this season, maybe the easiest. There’s only one problem with that, they actually didn’t.

The projected 2025 strength of schedule, which was based off of the 2024 season results, was definitely easy.

However the 2025 actual strength of schedule, based off of the results of the games played, put the 49ers in one of the harder schedules, certainly in the top 10 most difficult.

It puts what the 49ers did this year into its proper perspective.

  52. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

We ended up with the 9th hardest schedule. I saod at the beginning of the season that SOS means nothung based on how teams fluctuate so much.

Fucking Bears just choked on the goal line. Fucking Rams Seahawks in the NFCCG??? Too fucking conservative on all those blown 4th downs.

    Fuck me.

  53. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Wow. Caleb drops back 25 yards and hits the TD.

    Fucking crazy.

But this again shows that chasing points on 4th down is a fool’s errand. The Bears should have 9 more points on the conservative side.

  54. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

That was one of the greatest throws in NFL history! 4th down last chance play and Caleb forced back to his own 40 yard line with 3 Rams in his face throws a dime to Kmet unbelievable throw!!

  55. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

And then Caleb chucks a biscuit. He’s erratic as fuck. Collinsworth is right. He misses a lot of easy passes.

    New thread is up.
