Another year has almost flown by and here we are controlling our destiny. Hard to imagine after this season of injury and mayhem. First there was the salary purge, then the injury parade.
But I’d bet everyone would be thrilled with 11-4 without even taking injuries into account if they were asked at the start of the year.
Tomorrow we get THREE Thursday games. Games that I’m sure looked awesome at the beginnning of the season. They are:
- Dallas vs Washington (both out of the playoffs)
- Deetroit vs Minnesota both out of the playoffs)
- Chargers vs KC (KC down to their 3rd string QB)
But hey, it’s football so I’ll have it on in the background.
Hope y’all have a safe and happy holiday, love the ones you’re with, and thanks for hanging out here.
I picked 11-6 at the start of the season so right now Im correct but I would love to be wrong.
All I want for Christmas is 2 more wins!
Merry Christmas Charlie!
Merry Christmas Niner fans. Been a crazy football year for us overall but I have never seen a Niner team step up like this one. Having to much fun to stop now.
Chuck- Thanks for keeping things going it truly means a lot to me.
Yes, to all of us.
Anyone traveling at all be safe out there and enjoy Holidays!

Commander Cody and the Dead at Frost is an all-time memory.
The tanks of nitrous were epic.
Saw them at the frost too but I think it was with Santana and maybe Quicksilver. In those days it was always fry no matter who was playing.
Hah!! Indeed . . .
In the immortal words of Big Flavor, Deetroit comes up ant-small in their bid to reach the playoffs. To a 3rd string QB no less. Ouch.
I had the Niners as 9-8 or possible 10-7. The reasoning was the young, developing D-line Would make plays but also get pushed around. Then suddenly Mykel Williams was bottling up everything. Albert Collins was improving immensely from week to week. Then the injuries started happening. The team looked like a .500 team at best.
This young D-line is looking like they are getting much better with their technique. Did you see CJ West push a double team back and sack the QB? I can’t believe how they bottled up Tayler of the Colts. The pass rush still isn’t good but getting better. I thought we would have the records that I said above and be a force next year.
I like to be proven wrong when it is in our favor. I still think next year could be a special year. I expect one and done for this year’s playoffs. I expect the Super Bowl next year.
Merry Christmas all.
Both of last year’s #1 seeds didn’t make playoffs this year and the run to the SB is wide open in both conferences, there are no juggernaut teams.
D line has been up and down but has gotten healthier and the rookies have really improved.
LB it depends on if Bethune is in or not.
CB is decent not stellar on the outside and Stout has had great and terrible plays at times at nickle, he looks promising.
Safety is a real weakness. They basically have 2 strong safeties but no free safety playing. The rookie Sigle can play free safety but he’s riding the pine, too unpredictable apparently but I would play him instead of Tig Brown because Sigle has far greater range and play Brown in the big nickel package.
The O is on a tear and can put points up on anybody.
Special teams is playing at a very high level.
IMO, on any given day this team can beat anybody, but to beat the better teams everything has to go right, they dont have the capacity to overcome many mistakes and they must keep scoring to overcome their own so-so defense.
I don’t see any reason to believe they will be one and done come playoffs.
I hope you are right 12th. The two things that are impressive about this team are Purdy’s performance without a #1 WR. Hopefully Pearsall will be in this week. The other thing is the improvement of the very young D-line. We need a left guard.
Think I said 12-5. But this has to be one of the oddest seasons in memory. For so many teams.
Kind of amazed we are still in the running for #1. This Chicago game will tell a lot about both these teams.
Sure been fun watching this offense just come roaring back with Purdy at the helm. The O line play recently has been surprisingly good.
Getting Elliott back has done wonders for the run D. Just want to see the pass rush get better. Caleb is a little more mobile than Rivers.
It seems to me our highest priority for next year should be getting a good left guard for the O-line. We did good when Bartch was in there, but I’ve never seen him last more than a couple of games.
I would be more than happy going OL, DL, OL, OL on our first 4 picks.
By position of need I would go DE (pass rusher not edge setter), OG or OT, and in any order WR, S, LB.
Same. I think what ever we do it’ll come to whoever available. I just hope we don’t let a good OL prospect pass by we really need to pay attention to the oline this coming year. I think Purdy is really coming into his own and he deserves a solid line in front of him. I would like to see us draft 3or4 in the first 5 rounds.
solid O line allows Shanahan to do what he likes best–run football and wear other teams out and control clock. Any team that let’s him do that is in deep trouble. Love Purdy and what he’s been able to do minus guys like Deebo and Aiyuk.
Pass rush is tougher now because so many teams unload ball quickly in 2 seconds to running backs or quick outs. Stopping run is different though and SF has struggled there at times.
I think Niners can handle Bears but Seachickens are different story with Darnold. Niners have already beaten Rams and Seattle and could do it again. Playoffs look like total crapshoot…and I believe Barrows said if Niners get back to SB, Warner would be there.
That is my beef with Kyle wanting to control the clock, this year because of the D injuries he has had to score and score often. I hope next year he continues the score and score often and F the clock
Cowing is having his practice windows opened next week just in time for the last game of the regular season. 2 years of pretty much zero meaningful playing time, hopefully his fresh legs have some value for the team.
Darnold comes up small in big games. Bears should be tougher.
Adam Schefter says Kittle is “highly unlikely to play” but Pearsall is “likely to play”.
Renardo Green is out for the second week.
Niners 34-24
8 minute drive for Ol Man Rivers ends in Taylor TD and they’re up 10-0 on Jags. Taylor already has 11 carries/48 yards. Gotta hand it to Rivers and that was nice gesture last week to dap up Winters post game.
At least today Colts ditched those butt ugly one color unis at home for more trad white helmet and pants with blue horseshoe and stripes.
Disappointed. Rivers and company looked good to start the game. Sort of cracked up on the last play of the game, as the Colts coach put in the sub QB (so the pass would reach the end zone . . . lol).
Not seeing why ESPN has Seahawks #1 in power rankings, as the Panthers defense is outstanding and giving them all they can handle. Despite losing their last 2 games, Panthers are not saying “uncle” to Seahawks.
Pfffttt! So much for battling the Seachickens.
