The Light at the End of the Tunnel . . .

. . . seems to be receding. Are we going backwards? Or are we in the math conundrum where the train never gets out of the tunnel? The theory is, when the train is half way through, you cut that amount in half. Then when it gets halfway through that, you cut it in half again. And again, and again. If numbers are infinite, the train never gets out.

Just like Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall never get out of the trainer’s room. They are halfway to the door, then another half, and ano . . . you get it. Both are scratches from the (WEEK 8!) Houston game. The good news is that Kittle came back and had the wherewithal to bring the run game with him on his return. And we have new injurries to Renardo Green, Jake Brendel, and Bryce Huff.

That being said, this game coming up should be a cakewalk. At least that is what you would think for a 2-4 team that is going nowhere offensively. But as we have shown, we can play down to the worst of them level-wise. They have a fairly stout defense under our previous DC DeMeco Ryans. 4th in YPG, and 1st in points/game. They defend the pass well, but that should play into our suddenly successful run game.

Their offense on the other hand is a bit of a mess. We should be able to shut them down better than they can shut us down.

But as usual turnovers and special teams go a long way to determining winners in these days of parity.

Love this funky ZZ tune. Before they went full MTV . . .

    Aaaaaand, fuck the Dodgers.

Their defense is no joke. And they are at home, and it is a10am game. I don’t see a cakewalk. If we win, it will be close. Possibly with a field goal. But I sure like our chances with the Eddie P show. Don’t miss Jake the flake. At all.

  3. Winder's avatar Winder says:

I am really pleased with the last few drafts we’ve had. I’m thinking we keep our picks and maybe trade for some more our future might be really bright. With a strong O-line we could be a very dangerous team. Looks like Jones again against a very good D, if he can survive we are looking good. i’m not gonna pick any scores since I think I jinx em when I do.

  4. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Well it shows that a bunch of 3rd string Oline men are going to get it done.

  5. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

D has to get a stop deep. Not digging the play calling.

    Rough start, need a turnover.

Another D-linemen hurt? Great, just great. This year was supposed to be better than last year!

    Shit the 49ers suck!

    Test trying to log in?

  11. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

If McKivitz still wants to be a Probowler this year he needs to try blocking the edge.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

pretty sad effort by the defense

  13. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

saleh not bringing it. This is a bad plan on D.

  14. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

The lack of holding calls is just awful

    d is absolutely horrible.

  16. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

I would love to see a no huddle offense at the end of the quarter. They are down 2 TD and a field goal.

Too many D injuries, it had to catch up sometime.

  24. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

So Kyle is going to play slow and go, and lose this game

  25. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Good job Kyle of using up the clock!!

  26. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Oh well. We don’t travel well. And Houston’s defense is no joke. Due a stinker game I guess. Much like the TB game it came after a stirring win.

Unfortunately we travel to NJ for next weeek’s game.

Be nice to see us throttle someone early and coast.

  27. Berger's avatar Berger says:

Seattle had Stroud under pressure and he didn’t perform well. We didn’t even move him off his spot. He looked like a seasoned pro. IMO, we need to blitz and play man coverage to take away the wide open slants. We rarely blitzed and played zone. I think Saleh had the worst day of any player or coach.

  28. Berger's avatar Berger says:

The 49ers offensive line isn’t even average. It is hard to watch.

  29. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Last year the Niners exposed rookie OG Jarret Kingston to waivers on cut down day and I wrote it was a big risk. Sure enough he got picked up and is now playing for the Texans.

The Niners sure could use a decent young Offensive Guard right about now.

Sometimes I wonder who makes those kinds of decisions at a position of need.

  30. Berger's avatar Berger says:

They built a nice foundation with this D-line. We need a one gapping DT and get our edge rushers back. With our first pick in 2026 I would like the better player left between an interior pass rusher and O-line. Take the other position with the next pick. Having said that, if we took 2 O-linemen with our first 2 picks, it would not bother me.

  31. Winder's avatar Winder says:

We just have a lot of holes to fill. Houston knows our game and it showed. I am already waiting for the next draft. From this point on we can’t expect much from our pro-bowl players since most of em are unable to play and next year will probably be the same for em.

  32. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

KNBR, pointed out how many players have been injured over the last 6-8 years, and Tim Ryan pointed out there is a difference between being unlucky and bad conditionings, most of the injuries are the unlucky ones, Purdy elbow, Bose knee, Warner ankle, etc. the Football gods have not been kind to the Niners over the years, maybe someday players won’t get hurt and we will see a healthy productive team. I am praying to the football gods right now for next year. 😂

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

A fucking lot of this is not being stretched out and loose. Non-contact injuries like Kittle’s and Jennings, and a bunch of others, are because of conditioning and gettting loose.

Some, like Bosa and Thomas years ago, are from the turf but this shit is ludicrous.

The same shit happens for 7 seasons and they aren;t doing anything different.

Someone (Jed) has to pull their head out of his ass and figure this shit out.

  33. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Irony. A few weeks ago I wrote I was looking forward to seeing Giants RB Skattabo against Niners LB Warner.

Now both players are out for the season with the same injury, a dislocated ankle, and both players have had the same surgery to repair it.

What are the odds of that? That’s wild.

As great a coaching job as Saleh did agaisnt Atlanta, he was awful vs Houston. Like Bergs said, the zone D/4 man ruh did nothing. We all sit here and scream about the lack of pressure and the same shit happens. The last 2 seasons saw this same problem.

The only diff is last 2 years we had better players not getting pressure

    New thread is up.
