Woulda Coulda Shoulda – It’s All Words

Yeah, we shoulda had 11 guys on the field for that fateful play. Woulda Warner got hurt had there been enough guys? Shoulda been otherwise. Who knows? Here we are teetering on another lost season full of injuries and what coulda been.

Is Purdy gonna play? Kittle? BA? Pearsall? Jennings? Shanahan says words that amount to nothing.

Will the line learn how to block this week? Can the defense overcome the loss of both Bosa and Warner? I don’t know, but that easy schedule of patsies certainly doesn’t look like patsies anymore. The Falcons just rocked and rolled the Buffalo Bills using a strong run game and pressure on Josh Allen.

What do we have to show? Not a hell of a lot. Robert Saleh seems reluctant to blitz as our coverage is soft and leaky, but this is simply how we lost last year. Never giving up big plays, but giving up 16 small ones.

As of now I’m seriously bummed that we are pissing away another season full of hope as Kittle, Warner, Bosa, and even young guys like Pearsall and Jennings, cool their asses on the sidelines and we hope against hope they somehow figure how to overcome the decimation.

Atlanta has a big time RB in Bijan along with a pretty talented DL.

Pennix is no Baker but he has weapons.

Saleh and Ulbrich worked together so the edge goes to the QB that delivers IMO. If we can’t pass protect against the pressure packages Ulbrich is likely to bring we will drop another game.

Big advantage to Bijan now with Fred down.

How bad is Zakelj if he can’t crack this lineup?

I’m hoping to see SOME kind of addressing of the O line this week.

Funny thing is, if you had told me in September we’d be 4-2 after 6 games, I’d have been pretty OK with that.

But not with this injury status.

      Same here.

Nice to have the early leg up in the division though. Gonna be gut check time for the rookies. 2 banged up QBs ain’t a good place to be either.

Getting Kittle back should get a little spark back too hopefully. I think our run game improves with him in the mix.

Looking at the Falcons, it’s fucking nuts that they were shut out (!!!) by the Panthers (!!!).

    And they beat Buffalo.

Any given Sunday and all that, but really?

This is huge game for the 49ers. If they go 5-2 it’ll immensely help in the long run. Esp with the 3 division wins.

They have a couple fairly benign games in Houston and the Giants, but on any given Sunday . . . and we are running out of horses.

Scott Ostler in the chron says in order to salvage the season , Kyle needs to open up his play book and be like the AFL, score and score often. I have been saying that for years. IMO Kyle plays too conservative. He HAD all those weapons and he might score 30. Has he ever scored more than 40? Walsh rarely held back on offfense. Just look at the Denver and San Diego Super Bowls. For me it is sad to see the Niners struggle to score.

I would love to see that, don’t know if mac is mobile enough. If we could actually get ahead early it would probably open up some space for McCaffrey. Shades of Wendell Tyler.

I’ve been saying this since the fucking Harbaugh/Alex Smith days.

Shanahan has turned into Harbaugh 2.0 with his conservative until down by 2 TDs and playing conservative up 10 in the 2nd quarter.

        Don’t remind me Chuck.

I believe it was Bosa and Thomas going down on the Meadowlands turf in the same game a few years back.

In this scenario it’s turf vs Pittsburgh having a grass surface that’s unacceptable.

Irish, this only remotely works with Purdy. Our O line cannot protect long enough to throw deep. And Purdy is usually running for his life.
