OK, the Santa Clara corrall. Uh, the Milpitas mudflats??? Here we go.
We’re Number 1! In the NFC West. At 3-3. Meanwhile Green Bay is in last place in the NFC North at 4-2. Weird year. Green Bay did their part in beating the Cards. Something we should have done, but that was then. This is . . .
Now. Now? We have the perennial thorn in our pride Kansas City Swifties coming to town this weekend. Yes, just the chef’s kiss of extra bullshit with the Taylor Swift contingent coming to the Shoot Out at the Great America Parking Lot! KC has been a mixed bag of weirdness and struggles themselves, and have had some injury woes to boot, but for their issues, they’ve managed to right the ship instead of capsizing like we have. They are 5-0 and coming off their bye week. We are 3-3 coming off our mini-bye weeklet.
I will give the defense a little credit as the D line did pressure and rattle Geno (I’m not really Alex) Smith into 2 easy interceptions. A little credit. The pressure was pretty much all on the shoulders of Nick Bosa as the bookend guy on the other side, Leonard Floyd, is playing like door stop. Sorensen is doing his best George Seifert in rotating the interior guys to keep them fresh. Which helped Sam Okuayinonu get pressure late in the game. A nice wrinkle, and they have been moving Bosa around and stunting. A little.
Still and all, 358 yards, and 9/19 on 3rd/4th downs is abysmal. Believe it or not, Sorensen ratcheted DOWN the blitzing last Thursday. If not for the picks, it could have turned out much different. Problem is, teams KNOW they can throw short quick passes against our soft zone. And they do. Unfortunately, we can’t stop the deep pass as well, and run defense is an issue, so as I’ve said before, the defense is solely predicated on perfection as every level, and that is hard to come by for 60 minutes. Especially against the weirdly sputtering and mistake-laden KC Mahomies.
KC barely beat the Bengals and Chargers along with the Falcons, Ravens and Saints. I don’t know. ‘Barely winning’ sure beats blowing 4th quarter leads.
And I’m sure, Sorensen is already getting the cold sweats thinking about how soft he’s gonna play KC since Mahomes usually does well against the blitz.
Barring a wholesale change in defensive philosophy, I don’t see us winning this game. I’m fine with 4-4 at the break, though. This team needs a defensive identity other than Mr. Softee.
Andy Reid following a BYE? Next to lights out.
I’ll shit myself if we pull a W off.
Yeah, this one isn’t one I’m gonna really sweat if we lose. As long as we bitch slap the Cowturds.
Well, depending on how we lose.
Don’t get me wrong, we could pull it off, but there needs to be massive improvements in the defense and special teams.

Shit, get Evan Engram. Be nice to have another TE that can actually TE.
MNF showing Kinlaw getting pushed off the ball as usual.
What a disappointment he was for us but still not on the level as Lance.
DaVante Adams is a Jet. Their problems are over!!! The Raiders get a conditional 2nd or 3rd round pick. The Jets get a gigantic contract for a 32 year old guy for their 41 year old QB. Good luck!!!
Yeah, not even trying to keep Buckner was a serious fuckup for Lynch and the front office.
The Jets are a true mess and they actually have a solid team. I don’t keep up with them but something about the mindset must be off. It also doesn’t help when your starting QB takes the summer off.
49ers sign former Packers kicker Anders Carlson to the practice squad.
The most important question
Can you reach the fucking end zone???
That’s the Mendoza line for me Chuck.
We’re not ready for prime time in the kickoff return department.
And Buffalo goes WR as well..
Lynch needs to dangle some candy for a DT that can stop the run and collapse the pocket.

Niner Nation,
Report: 49ers sign veteran safety to the practice squad with rookie Malik Mustapha dealing with an ankle injury
Adrian Amos is a 10-year vet who provides much-needed experience for a banged up 49ers secondary
Yeah, just saw that. Yep. We need warm bodies.
Yeah, the Buckner situation still bothers me. Turns out he was a steal for the Colts. He was just a bad-ass 49er that the whole team listened to and respected.
New thread is up.
