Well, Maybe Not . . .

The 49ers front office seems to be the only thing that can stop the 49ers this year from reaching their goals. They are dicking around with BA, and now there are reports that the 49ers might move on from Trent Williams.

I find that one a little harder to believe. but BA even with all his hanging out at camp and glad-handing everyone, he seems to be adamant that he’s worth more than we are offering. Whatevs. If we can get a good haul, do it.

Trent Williams is a bigger issue. The oft-neglected offensive line would be a shit-ton worse without Williams. Yeah, Williams is old and a bit injury-prone, but without him our 22nd ranked pass pro line goes where? Up? Suuure.

There are plenty of people out there, Steve Young being the most vocal, that the Niners have already lost their best opportunity to win it all after yet another late-game collapse.

So there you have it. the 49ers stopping themselves inches from the goal line.

BA not playing is survivable, although the I don’t see that happening. Trent not playing almost certainly isn’t.

I haven’t seen much written about Trent’s situation so I’m presuming that’s pure speculation, but Trent has a well earned reputation for holding his ground.

If the 9ers are serious about a 6th Lombardi then this is one contract they need to compromise for.

And now CMC is out for the preseason with a calf strain.

    Brieda signed.

Fucking tough way to start the year. Sick of the whole BA bullshit. They gotta pay Trent since we have already hit the walmart circuit for replacements. They must be worried about paying Purdy 55+ mill next year.

BA may just find himself to be a Man without an island…

I wonder whether they think someone on the roster is ready to take over for Trent? Not sure Burford would be the answer but I’m very curious about the new kid Puni. I’ve seen some high praise pieces from Foerster about his ability and smarts.

BA apparently nixed a trade to NE. He wants pittsburgh i guess.

Banking on a rook to fill Trent’s shoes is a tall order. Sure hope it doesn’t come to that.

This is the wrong time to be hard-balling these guys. Frankly, I’d just sit on BA. Let him sit the fucking season out. Then franchise his ass. Hard to build your value pouting on the sidelines.

Yeah those odds of success aren’t great. It has been done before. Michael Oher started as a RT and switched to LT his rookie year and did well but banking on Puni doing the same would be a long shot. He looks the part at RG early on but starting LT in the NFL is tough.

If this possible Steelers trade is true, which player, plus draft picks, would interest the Niners?

The Browns trading Amari Cooper on a one year rental plus pics made some sense, Niners get a better WR this year to make a run at the SB, who is that guy on the Steelers?

  9. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Steelers don’t have shit for WRs. Which is why they want BA so bad.

Per usual the Niners are gonna nix the deal unless Pissburgh sweetens the pot. Throw in a couple O linemen.

Niners don’t want picks from Steelers for dead to me Aiyuk they want players.Start with tackle Troy Fautono who played LT for Washington Huskies senior year but now is moving to RT but could easily play both positions,( insurance for Trent)just the added OL depth the Niners could use.Hey a number 1 pick for a number 1 pick is a reasonable start .Throw in their C Frazier and get it done…

  11. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

According to this guy the Steelers wouldn’t include a player in this potential deal. I don’t see how this works for the 49ers this year:

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette added there is no verbal agreement in place between the Steelers and 49ers for Aiyuk, nor are they in the process of finalizing details. He added that any potential deal “would NOT involve” Pittsburgh sending a player to the Niners.

  12. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

No players, no deal. Exactly how I’d play it. They are getting a bona fide star.

We ain’t taking dreams for that.

  13. Winder's avatar Winder says:

The Steelers think we are desperate. The best draft pick they would go is a 2nd. They can go kiss our ass.

  14. Winder's avatar Winder says:

    We should have drafted McCaffrey.
