What a Season it Was!

Brock Purdy – 4,280 yards (#1 in 49ers history)
Christian McCaffrey – 2,023 scrimmage yards (1,459 rush / 564 rec)
Brandon Aiyuk – 1,317 rec yards
George Kittle – 1,020 rec yards
Deebo Samuel – 1,085 scrimmage yards (871 rec / 214 rush)

Shit, if Deebo has a big day, he could get 1,000 in the air as well.

Defensively the 49ers are 7th in yards/game.
– 15th in pass yards/game
– 3rd in rush yards/game
2nd in points/game given up

3rd in turnover diff at +10 (27 takes / 17 gives)
– 2nd in interceptions with 21
– 29th in fumble recoveries with 6

17th in INTs given up with 12
4th in fumbles given up with 5

These numbers will change a little with game 17, but what is cool is they did this in 16 games. And I suspect that Purdy will not play very much, Deebo won’t play that much, Kittle won’t play that much, and CMC and Williams won’t play at all. I’d rest Warner, Greenlaw, Ward, Bosa, Hargrave, and Young on defense as well. Give them a quarter and rest.

I hope that we don’t just throw everyone to the sidelines and give everyone 3 weeks off, but I don’t want Shanny to play the starters all game and go all-out for the last win.

For this team to roll, we need to get healthy. I’m not too worried about CMC, but AA needs to get back. Kinlaw has been not very good in his place, so we NEED AA to provide his inside presence to stop the run. We need Ambry Thomas and Ja’Ayir Brown back as well. This team, when healthy, is up there in the top 2. I think the seeds are actually right for the best teams in the conference.

Baltimore and us.

Truth be told, the path to Vegas looks much tougher for the Ravens than us. We’ve beaten the main contenders, and if the Vikings sneak in, I think we can take them.

Balt is gonna have a very tough and rejuvenated Joe fucking Flacco and the Browns to deal with (they split their 2 games), and a Buffalo team they haven’t played and who could get their shit together.

Of course as soon as I post this, Shanny announces that Purdy will sit.

And McVay announced that Stafford sits as well.

Not crazy about this, but if anyone can come in without a ton of playing time I suppose it’s Purdy. He missed the whole preseason and hit the ground running this season.

I’m a fan of this. Need to see what Sam can do for an extended period, even if it will be with the 9ers “B”team. There’s a big decision to be made next year for who backs up Purdy and also what happens if Purdy’s money demands takes him out of the Niners team in 2025? $60 mil means dismantling the team.

      Need to have viable options.

Funny how this shit finds the light of day 43 years later.

I was at this show dosed to the gills.

This was earlier the same show , , ,

Another guy they have to rest is Ambry Thomas who had hand surgery this week. There’s a strict limit to how many players can really not play but the Niners still have to field a team. Ambry will be good for playoffs probably in a cast which is how he played last week too.

I’m with you 12th, get the guys like Darnold into the contact phase.

Need backups to get hit and see live action regardless the opponents caliber.

      Stretch run time.
      The strong survive.

      Get #6!

I’m all for resting guys, but I’d rather see them get a LITTLE action. Its gonna be a 3 week break.

You know what they say . . .

    • 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Except for a handful of players they will, there’s only 53 total players so most will have to play.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Great post chuck, this season has been amazing in so many ways but to me Purdy makes it all happen. I would sit most everyone and not play the starters more than one/two drives at the most. We have nothing to gain and everything to lose from injuries. The Rams are in the same boat we are and I doubt they play anyone they don’t have too.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, they are resting Stafford among others.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Huh. NINE 49ers named to the Pro Bowl, and none of them are Dre Greenlaw. Although he is an alternate. it used to mean something.

I think the “NFL’s Top 100 Players” voted on by the players is a bigger deal to them now.

    The following were selected:

    DL Nick Bosa
    DL Javon Hargrave
    FB Kyle Juszczyk
    TE George Kittle
    RB Christian McCaffrey
    QB Brock Purdy
    CB Charvarius Ward
    LB Fred Warner
    T Trent Williams

Were selected to the 2024 Pro Bowl.

    The Alternates are:

    WR Brandon Aiyuk
    DL Arik Armstead
    OL Aaron Banks
    OL Jake Brendel
    LB Oren Burks
    LB Dre Greenlaw
    CB Deommodore Lenoir
    OL Colton McKivitz
    LS Taybor Pepper
    WR Deebo Samuel
    P Mitch Wishnowsky
    DL Chase Young

Just disgusted watching the Warriors. They have blown an 18 point lead with 6:30 left. Like they all just forget everything.

  10. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

There you go. Warriors get outscored 25 – 4 down the stretch.

    • willedav's avatar willedav says:

That was awful and #30 was last Warrior with ball in hands before throwing it away. Ruined all the good things they did before that to build a big lead vs. Defending Champ Denver.

Off subject back to the SF Giants…
Farhan is back to his dumping divings way!
He has traded Haniger&Disco to Seattle for LHP Robbie Ray who’s currently recovering from TJ surgery and won’t be available till the 2nd Half of the season!
Gawd a real non needle mover just clearing out 2 useless players for 1.But WTF same old ZShit he’s still clueless adding talent!!! Yeah no big name F/A is coming here..

    • Yeah, the only thing that is minimally satisfying about this trade is eliminating Disco and Hangover from the roster. Now let’s see how many other players Z picked up over the past 5 years he can jettison as well…

    • Winder's avatar Winder says:

I guess Z really is waiting for the kids to produce because the move to get Ray is bullshit. I read he tore something else in his arm besides the TJ surgery I think it was the same thing that Purdy had with his arm. Maybe I miss read it but that was a straight dump move.

  13. 12th Man's avatar 12th Man says:

Jason Verrett done for the year…

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

The Giants are officially a joke. Yet another conversation with Farhan is an excuse-laden pile of shit bemoaning everything and saying nothing. I’m sorry

As far as the trade goes, it’s two turds for one. Robbie Ray may not even pitch next year as he comes back from TJ surgery. Woo hoo. Pining for 2025?

  15. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 says:

Yeah I really liked Jason Verrett when he was occasionally healthy which was never, a great teammate as well so I’ve heard, but atleast he did sniff the field unlike are useless draft pick1-2 rd? WR Jalen Hurd who never played in a regular season game… I still cringe 😬 at that…

  16. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Verrett had a great year in 2020.

But he played 1 game in 3 of his 4 season here.

He should be kept as a coach.
