Sunday Funday

Kinda weird seeing all these games (thanks Streameast) without any 49ers, but wow. Miami puts up a 70 spot on the Broncos, the Cards face three NFC East teams in a row, and beats the best one of the 3 in the Cowboys, Chicago continues to be a joke, Minnesota and the Chargers played a game that no one wanted to win (Minnesota wasted 14 seconds on 1st and goal and after wasting al that time, Cousins threw a pick in the end zone), and Seattle looks better than they showed early, so really, the NFC West may be better than I thought.

Got the Raiders and the Steelers in the Sunday night, the old rivalry of the 70s, and so far this season, Jimmy G is looking pretty good. He’s hitting his mid-range stuff, but the Raiders are the Raiders and they are very adept at shooting themselves in the foot.

As I say that, Jimmy G hits Davante Adams for a 31 yard TD strike on 4th and 1. Fun times.

Didn’t get to see much of the Dallas game though the final was appreciated.

Any chance TV caught Jerruh doing his infamous queef lips routine?

    Douchebag

It makes me happy when Dallas trips over their own dicks.

  3. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, the Dallas fan base jizzing over beating the Giants and Jets is funny enough.

Then falling to the team that the Giants barely beat is hysterical.

#1 as the Niners should be. Could there be a repeat of the 84 SB?

Eagles vs Bucs at 4:15 here on the west coast. Bucs at home, not sure how Baker will do vs that defense, but we will see.

Rams vs Bengals at 5:15 in Cincy. Burrow is expected to play, but he could very well go down early. Are the Rams for real? Is Cincy gonna go 0-3 like the Vikes?

I have the Iggles at +5.5 and the Rams at -2.

  6. Winder's avatar Winder says:

Burrows has to be hurt more than they are saying. He’a proven to be a top QB. Maybe the Oline is shaky.

  7. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Well, he missed all of the offseason with the same calf injury so I’m sure he needs time to heal, but he and the Bengals don’t have time to rest. They fall to 0-3 and their playoff chances go down pretty hard.

Granted we have started off slow and made the playoffs, but the Steelers, Ravens, and Browns are all 2-1, so they stand to be behind the 8-ball pretty quick should they lose. Would be good to see the Rams go down.

  8. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

For those of you that have cut the cord, the Eagles game is on channel 7 (ABC) locally.

The Cincy game will be streameast.

The Rams look utterly clueless. What a joke. Maybe they aren’t as good as I thought. They are playing like Burrow can throw more than 8 yards.

    Unreal.

I gave up Sunday ticket several years ago when AT&T took over the platform and jacked the cost to over $400/season.
Love my 9ers but not at the cost of a sports bar package.

Last year I went the Game Pass ($79.99/year) route and had to miss live action on game day in favor of saving the Benjamins.

This year they rolled Game Pass into NFL+ and another $20/season.
The hook was streaming only, pay-walled me out of TV viewing.

  11. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

Found a way around that obstacle by adding an Amazon Fire Stick to the equation.
Again, it’s only game rewinds involved which I can live with since my work schedule conflicts with the Sunday games.
Waiting until they’re delivered in replay format is actually much more tolerable since they remove all the commercial annoyances and give an all 22 view in addition to full game / condenced game options.

  12. NJ49ER's avatar NJ49ER says:

The NFL is getting on my nerves and, I can’t bring myself to watch the games in a streaming service format only on a tablet/laptop/phone vs a big screeen TV.

The NFL is a whore’s racket anymore.
Splintering content delivery to the highest bidders and breaking up the options to see games into a jigsaw puzzle of carrier provider options.

I would prefer a platform to buy access by team of course but, that hasn’t crossed their greedy little minds yet obviously.

    Eff you Roger.
Give the fans the ability to buy their own team viewership and be done with it.

For now, NFL Red Zone is the most viable way to watch live action without suffering through the commercials.

  14. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, every year is diffferent and costly. I get streameast on one of my TVs but it doesn’t work on a couple others. And the quality isn’t very good but it beats the $400 they want now.

I did Sunday Ticket when it was $79.99 as well. When it went to $299.99 I bailed.

TV went from charging too much for too many things to charging for each channel separately. Fucked either way.

  15. Winder's avatar Winder says:

The games are almost unwatchable at least for me they are. I am fine with listening on the radio. I catch a few games a year through streaming but even those take forever with penalties and commercials. To top that off my brain just can’t take sloppy 49er football(same as it ever was)and I usually just walk away. Rarely do I sit through a whole game.

So sorry to hear about your sister, Winder. My condolences.

  17. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

Just read where Josh McDaniels was offered the HC job in 2017, but he stayed with the Pats as their OC. What a disaster that would have been had he become the Niners HC

  18. Irish Kevin's avatar Irish Kevin says:

USA power rankings this is what they said about the Cowboys 9. Cowboys (3): Right or wrong, HC Mike McCarthy is adhering to his desire “to run the damn ball,” RB Tony Pollard with a league-high 62 carries – a per-game pace more than double his career average. If only those touches could fix Dallas’ woeful (40%) red-zone percentage.

  19. unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I remember hearing that back then. I didn’t want anything to do with McDaniels. Luckily we were a shit-show at the time and 49ers head coach wasn’t a valued position. He’s a terrible head coach. He showed that with Denver, and he’s showing it with the Raiders. I mean, who didn’t know that Jimmy G was gonna be worse than Carr? Mark Davis bears a ton of blame as well by backing Josh instead of Carr. Can’t fix stupid.

And watching the Rams last night, I don’t get what McVay is doing out there. He was playing like the Rams were 24 points down when they were down 4 most of the game. They seemingly threw the ball 50 times in the 2nd half. And Cincy’s D line was killing the Rams O line. No screens, no draws, no running at all. It was all 10-15 yard passes and the occasional deep shot. And Cincy knew what was coming every time.

Lost my oldest sister 2 years ago. She was 11 years older than me but she’s the one I was closest with. Miss her all the time.

Damn. I’m the youngest of 5 but I always thought I’d be the first to go.
