Round 2 (No. 61 overall) – Drake Jackson, LB/DE, USC:The Niners join the draft party and take the Trojans pass rusher. San Francisco values a deep group up front, but the 6-3 Jackson needs to figure out what his ideal playing weight is – 255? 275? – before he’s able to serve as a nice change of pace opposite Nick Bosa. Round 3 (93) – Ty Davis-Price, RB, LSU:At 6 feet, 211 pounds with 4.48 speed, he was a 1,000-yard rusher for the Tigers in 2021 and could slot in for RB2 duties for the Niners behind Elijah Mitchell with Raheem Mostert gone. Draft tracker
Round 3 (105, special compensatory) – Danny Gray, WR, SMU:At 6 feet, 186 pounds, he’s no Deebo Samuel clone. But Gray’s 4.3 speed could obviously add a new dimension to the Niners offense. Draft tracker
Round 4 (134) – Spencer Burford, OT, Texas-San Antonio
Round 5 (172) – Samuel Womack, CB, Toledo
Round 6 (187, from Broncos) – Nick Zakelj, OT, Fordham
Round 6 (220, compensatory) – Kalia Davis, DT, UCF
Round 6 (221, compensatory) – Tariq Castro-Fields, CB, Penn State
Round 7 (262, compensatory) – Brock Purdy, QB, Iowa State
I like Jackson and Gray but not clear why RB with the 3rd round. Burford is a possible steal, and the rest? Who knows? We will see when we see.
San Francisco 49ers Forever 
What I kinda like is that a lot of the draft exspurts are giving us low grades. This way there is nowhere else to go but up. Anyway, these are the same guys who said we aced the draft with Solomon and Foster. I kind of like this kid Womack, which is probably the kiss of death for him but I can see why they drafted him.
Finally got a C in the draft UDFA from ASU Donavan West. Finally just couldn’t avoid it.
Too bad we missed the ghost of Nick Cross
They are gonna try both OT’s and donovan west at C if Mack retires. More likely they get fa Tretter for Lance. Need a quality vet for him.
Next big decision is when and how to get Jimmy off the cap. It was asked earlier if a trade to Seattle is doable. Or a trade with Hou or a swap with CAR for Darnold plus ???
Can this wait until late june.
I just hope this draft winds up to be successful. With all the injuries and bullshit lately we could use some good things happening.

2 for sure possible Keepers in Center Johavan (sp)West from ASU and Jason Poe OL RG/FB from Mercer University Poe is incredibly athletic as a pulling guard ,off the charts in his measurable percentages, He’s 6’2 300lbs ..
Says West is 6’3″ 300 lbs , does he have body type to add muscle weight to 310 lbs to handle DT bullrushes?
Really want to see the 6’6″ 316 lb OT do zone blocking. He could be the future C.

I guess we are all set with TE’s. That is a first for this regime.
The trend is paying WR more. Means more players on rookie contracts. For us that starts with this draft class. Too bad Taart stays low paid so keeps rookies away.
NFL cap is a zero sum game. Deebo paid a huge guaranteed amount inflicts pain on the others. So much for team chemistry.

I find the chemistry problem to be more about how they’re treated by ownership.
Eddie benefitted from his generosity and family atmosphere.
Now the Cap exists.
That’s where ownership needs to be more creative.
With a rookie QB there’s a major opportunity to retain key personnel.
I just hope Jed and Paraag see more like Eddie did and less like Dr York does.
They stir the locker room chemistry debate as much as coaching does.

Want to see what happens when Nick Zakelj gets a hard look at C with his size and mobility. Looks better than West. Bullrushes, pass pro and zbs.
Get Tretter for a year or two until Nick is ready. West needs 10 lbs of muscle. Not a good anchor.
All-in-all the OL room looks good. Burford and Zaquelj have athleticism and good zbs experience. Looks like both need to stay on roster, will get poached if to practice squad.
The undersized Brunskill will be the vet center. Zaquelj has a masters and together with off the chart RAS score should be groomed as the C backup.
So the only brain fart was #93 and avoiding Nick Cross.

Well he has tight hips, he has loose hips, he has no lateral hips, he has fluid hips, now they’ve added bad eyes, good eyes, no vision at all, cause he’s blind,but still could make a roster on blind instincts..
FO pumping #93 RB to offset the overdraft backlash. Speedy power runner at 6’0″ 211 lbs. Gore was 215 and 3 inches shorter.

Nick Cross much better and much cheaper. Draft team hurt D and still collecting big salaries.

As a Niner fan I already is regretting it! Cross is an elite athlete that brings the thunder, are Ronnie Lott of the future at Safety. But knooowww Lynch&Shanny had to wait so long for there 1st pick they were liquored up for the #93 pick and totally flubbed on a RB they could of got later..
Mandatory drug checks at end of each draft day for every draft from now on. Would kawakami ask that?
Still ya gotta wonder why he lasted to 96 in the first place.
My guess is that 1/2 of the players picked in the 1st rd either won’t pan out or become mediocre. The whole thing really is about their heart and who’s coaching them up and their surrounding players. Very few naturals.
