Shamahan thinks he’s playing it coy by not announcing Lance as the starter? Please. If Jimmy goes out there, he’ll be handing it off every time. Come to think of it, if Lance is out there, he’ll be running it every time.
I don’t know where we are going or what we are doing, but this season is a travesty, and this coaching staff is not giving me any comfort that they know what the fuck they are doing. I just hope that if they trip over their dicks at the finish line and don’t make the playoffs, Shanny and Co get the old heave-ho.
I ain’t holding my breath, but this season brought all the issues with Shanahan to the forefront.
Not withstanding 2nd half adjustment inadequacy Chuck, Shanny, the genius/guru, is starting to look like a deer in the headlights.
He’s lost twice to AZ & Seattle.
Now he’s forced to win out.
I ain’t holding my breath.
If Jimmy is out there I don’t care if we win or not. If Lance is out there I will be interested. I think the kid has too many skills to be a bust he just needs to see some action and get some support from our Oline.
And a competent play caller
Shanahan drafted Lance early for a reason and I’m sure has plan for how to use him in passing game given all the talent around him. Hope OL can protect him, and running game is working.
At same time will be fun to watch Mills, 3rd round pick who might have nice career if he can stay upright.
I agree it will almost be like seeing in the future. I think most pocket passers will do well in the nfl just like a lot of QB’s that run have been doing well. The trick is to find a QB that can do both. Montana, Farve, and Mahomes are examples. No one expects Lance to automatically become one of those guys but it would sure be nice to see some similar traits out of him.
Passing game continues to evolve in NFL as it has in college, and defenses along with it. NFL now has hybrid position guys who can tackle like LBs, rush passer on blitz, but are more safety sized and can come up and defend/tackle all the short outs. Too often I see QBs who don’t read D quickly enough and throw these short passes that are well defended and result in little or no gain.
At same time, given different blitz packages even the mobile QBs only have precious few seconds (3 or 3 and half) to find open receiver before getting crunched by quick Bosa types DE. This is one of first things Lance is gonna have to figure out and learn (and we all know weakness of G who holds ball too long)–making good decision, and quickly.
The way Seattle plays it is when they get man coverage, everyone goes on intermediate to deep routes. This opens up running lance up the wazoo. Defenders have their backs to the QB and don;t see the scramble till it is too late.
We predominantly run intermediate to short routes so those lanes may not be available.
I think we will see more deep passes with Rover because he has a much better ability to throw the deep ball.
Willis and BY in the running for the HoF. You’d think Young would be a shoo-in.
And Willis may not have the length of time, but he dominated when he played..
I just love both Bryant Young and Patrick Willis they were so dominating to see play, can’t believe Young’s been on the ballot for 10 years now and this is just his 1st finalist eligibility that just shows how hard it is to get in!
Willis due to his shorter career might have to wait some buts he’s a HOFamer in my book!
Real deep class with 3 great WR’s Terry Holt,Reggie Wayne,Andre Johnson DB Leroy Butler should be in,OT Willie Anderson, and Tony Boselli,DB Rondale Barber,DE Richard Sherman &even the guy who revolutionized the kickoff&Punt Returns and holds all those records Devin Hester ( still remember him taking one like 107yards to the house against the 49ers on last play of the half) so only 5 get in out of the 15 eligible and I’m still missing 4? It’s a great class let’s see how the chips fall.Believe the cryer Dick Vermiel is even up in a senior committee vote, love to see him get in just when he breaks down seconds into his speech..
Sudfield elevated from practice squad. Move over Jimmy and let Rover take over!
Harbaugh is a crazy ass dick. It is why I used to love the guy. I am that description. The reason I started to not care for him as our coach is he might be crazy enough to get his players to love and follow him, but he is an absolute dolt when it comes to strategizing. He will probably never win a title. I predicted he would never beat Urban Meyer and that was an easy prediction.
We should have easily won his Super Bowl but he fucked it up. His brother schooled him. If he didn’t scorch the Earth on his way out I would still love the guy but that does not change the fact that he is a strategic moron.
When he left the 49ers and scorched the Earth on his way out, I despised the ingrate. I still do. It was very predictable and satisfying to watch him lose another big game. One of the best moves Jed ever made was to get rid of the loon.
Happy New Years!!! Didn’t see the Michigan’s game but if Harbs gets beat in the first half the game is over. Siding with Baalke over Harbs did the team no favors. As the team stands now based on the floundering 4+ years into this iteration, I’m about to call for a re-do.
I’m still very worried about how this shit goes down on Sunday. Still waiting for a Shanny to get something more than mediocrity out of a QB he is developing.
Harbs inherited the best defense in the league and as far as I am concerned we had one of the top RB’s in Gore. Although Shanny didn’t inherit shit from the previous regime we did build a pretty good squad in 2019. I also think we should have clobbered KC in that SB. Playing it safe has never worked for the 49ers and it’s not working now. My attention is totally on how we play this week I don’t even give a shit if we win or lose I just want to see some sharp football. We should get a good look at how are team plays against a team that is actually playing good ball right now and has nothing to lose. I think we will have a lot of our players futures riding with this game.
Fast vs big. Baalke drafted players who were big for their position. I always complained that we didn’t have enough speed. We didn’t have much problem with rashes of injuries back then.
The current regime drafts speed. We are constantly held back with a rash of injuries.
Both philosophies went to the Super Bowl and lost. I would like to see more of a happy median between big and speed. Big for less injuries and fast just because you can’t coach speed. It is a great asset but fast players seem to get hurt more often.
New thread is up.
