Yeah, I’m thrilled we took Lance over Jones, but the steal of the draft very well may be Trey Sermon. He excelled in the run-heavy offense at Oklahoma, and transferred to Ohio State and their more balanced attack just in time to fuel their national championship run. Ohio State runs a zone blocking scheme, so he should fit right in and be productive from the get-go. Yes, we will run the ball.
And yes, hopefully our new guards Banks and Moore can get incorporated sooner rather than later, but I still see us picking up line help once teams start sloughing off expensive pieces that they replaced with cheaper alternatives.
Sammy Watkins cousin, Austin Watkins may stick around as our slot WR. His draft stock fell when his 40 time was pretty slow, but the impressive stat with him is he caught 99 of 101 catchable balls. If he can run routes well, he could make it.
LB Justin Hilliard is a very easy risk/reward guy who would have gone in the 2nd/3rd round if not for his extensive injury history. However, his injury-free 2020 tally of 6 ames saw 33 tackles, a forced fumble and an INT. If anything, he should stick as a special teamer that could work his way into the lineup.
LB Elijah Sullivan is intriguing as a speedy LB who could possibly be converted to strong safety, or just a speedy LB in the mold of Fred Warner. Defensive MVP of the 2019 Liberty Bowl.
Josh Pederson is the son of ex-Iggle coach Doug Pederson. Small school guy who will be fighting Ross Dwelley for the back up TE spot.

This draft is probably the most important for our FO as of yet. I truly hope it pans out. I like what we did and with our new OL guys Jimmy just might have a little more time. And, hopefully we won’t have to rely upon our 4th string RB’s due to injuries.
All about the injuries. We look deeper now on paper and most of these picks served an obvious need.

Shanahan is sending a message by drafting 2 shiny new Running Backs with the last few years of keeping them healthy Love Mosert, the guy can flat out ball when healthy, same with Wilson jr more of a bruising runner.But both are signed on 1 year deals along with Gallman, só adding 2 new Backs was very smart, especially Sermon who can do it all and will thrive under Shanny’s stretch runs and possibly be one of the steals of the draft!

Trey Sermon is going to be a stud in this offense. He is very good. He’s actually a lot better of a receiver than he’s given credit for…and not just your typical screen passes. He’s going to be a bruiser. I’ve seen him run over guys…He’s agile, he has a burst, and he doesn’t take square shots. He doesn’t take the big hits. TBH I scratched my head with the move up for Sermon.
Saw his Bio with a 4.58 40 and passed.

We were down to 4th string RBs last year. He’s a pass catcher and he runs hard. They need healthy guys. I’m cool with the pick.
Yeah anybody that can rush for 331 yards in one game is a baller in my book! Sermon had a 3 game stretch at the end of the season with 112 yards, 193 yards and 331 yards before getting hurt in the playoff game. Averaged over 6 yards a carry in his career, that works..
There is one Niner that I truly want to see on the field this year and that is Hurd. (hope I didn’t just jinx him) Anyway, he’s kinda built like DK Metcalf and i think once Lance figures out the offense he will be trouble for everyone. I have a feeling he FO feels the same way too.
Yeah been hoping that guy finally gets through a practice. Hurd’s a big target and should do well in the red zone.
Sorry Winder but Jaylin Hurd can never be compared to DK Metcalf who’s body is chiseled from the gods and will be an annual pro bowl player for years to come.
Hurd’s body is built out of balsa wood ready to snap like the last 2 seasons have proved at anytime.Though maybe 🤔 since they didn’t draft WR’s in the draft maybe there getting a positive last chance results on him.It would atleast be nice to see him out there in a practice and a pregame game.
