Game Day III – Electric Boogaloo

Not much to say about this game. We either score some touchdowns or we lose. Jared Goff seems to have shed his bust tag from last year’s debacle, but that is strictly related to the Curse of Jeff Fisher. A guy who has done less with more since Aluminum Mike Singletary. Now that he is gone, Goff appears to have a clue. Granted he hasn’t faced a tough defense, and we don’t quite fit that category yet, but if we can get after the immobile Goff like we got after the mobile RW, we should create a little havoc for the Ram offense.

Other than that, our offense has been a small stagnant pond in a burning pit of doom. The bright spot is Carlos Hyde. Which is good and bad. Hyde hasn’t been exactly durable for his career, and counting on him seems to lead to disappointment. Or we become the 2010 49ers who do nothing but hand the ball off 3 times and then punt. Hoyer needs to trust his blocking and actually hit the open guys. He has left a shit ton of plays out there, but Goodwin does no favors by dropping excruciatingly important passes.

As I said, 20-13 Niners.

49ers win tonight. Matt Breida has a nice game and scores a touchdown. Hyde is also effective. Hoyer finally pulls his head out of his ass and the defense finally gets a couple of turnovers. And Goodwin finally makes a big catch!

    GO NINERS!

  2. Winder says:

Once again full of hope. We need to play mistake free football.

  3. Winder says:

    pre game stuff

  4. Winder says:

    Last one

  5. Flavor says:

Jesus Fucking Christ Hoyer is awful.

  6. Winder says:

  9. Lurker John says:

    Touchdown!

  10. Winder says:

    very nice

  11. Lurker John says:

    Good answer drive.

  12. Lurker John says:

    Fuck Johnson

  13. Lurker John says:

    Ray Ray sucks ass

  14. Winder says:

The no huddle got to em

  15. Irish Kevin says:

    Second chance

  16. Irish Kevin says:

Damn they might. Penalize themselves right out of field goal range

  17. Flavor says:

off sides. Holding. Dropped pass. Give up with a run. What a shit sequence after that gift turnover.

  18. Irish Kevin says:

When you can’t score a TD when you recover in the opposing teams side of the 50, that makes you incompetent

  19. Lurker John says:

It’s fucking comical, since this broadcast started at 4:30, they’ve been showing shots of SF non-stop, while barely mentioning that they’re 45 miles away from there.

    • Flavor says:

well, they are the SAN FRANCISCO 49ers. When they change the name to Santa Clara maybe they’ll start showing boring shots of ugly ass Santa Clara.

      • Lurker John says:

I sure as hell don’t want to see boring shots of ugly ass Santa Clara, but they don’t play in SAN FRANCISCO, so continually showing shots of SAN FRANCISCO landmarks is fucking stupid.

      • Flavor says:

i suppose they could show a shot of the tidal wave at Great America. Is that still there?

  20. Lurker John says:

The 49er corners are horribly coached. They NEVER turn and play the ball. Robinson is constantly in the receiver’s face and can’t figure out why he’s getting flagged. Johnson does the same thing.

  21. That slant’s a play that SF could never pull off.

  22. Irish Kevin says:

    We have a game!!

  23. Irish Kevin says:

Finally the receivers are catching the ball 🏈

  24. Lurker John says:

Just like that Hoyer is having a huge game and 3-4 of his passes have been dropped.

  25. Lurker John says:

    Yes! What a barnburner!

  26. Piss poor clock management using 2 timeouts there

  27. Lurker John says:

Shit. That BS penalty killed that drive.

  28. Nipper says:

At least that game was entertaining and the offense finally showed up. Count your blessings for a positive viewpoint because this was another loss in a season with a lot of new faces. Be grateful for small steps because the journey is just beginning for the Niners this season.

  29. Winder says:

We still have a lot of work to do but it truly looks like we are headed in the right direction. With these last two games the Niners have shown they play the whole 60 minutes and sooner or later we are gonna win some of them.

  30. unca_chuck says:

Still no pass rush, but we are losing defenders. LB play is lost at times. Ray Ray needs to figure out that zone doesn’t mean run around with his head cut off. Way too many 3rd down conversions where the middle was left wide open and Ray Ray was nowhere near his responsibility.

  31. Lurker John says:

Lack of a pass rush has killed us in two of the three games. Ray Ray has me convinced that he’s best suited for special teams. Not having Rueben and Reid out there last night was not a good thing. Bow is starting to look slow to me. He relies on his experience and football acumen to get himself to where he needs to be, but the legs don’t look like they used to. Maybe the short week had something to do with that as well.

Agree, Chuck, the Rams had way too easy of a time converting 3rd downs and our lousy corners continue to play way off. Rashard is for shit so for and was, I believe, flagged three times. He’s impressing no one, and Johnson hasn’t been much better. They have to be better.

Anyway, lots of good stuff too, especially on the offensive side. I’m with Winder, the team is battling for 60 minutes and that might be the best sign of all. Garcon was off the hook last night.

  32. unca_chuck says:

Huh. Seattle is on the ropes early.

  33. unca_chuck says:

Jimmy T’s D line is killing the Raiders O line. I bet he got a good laugh out of seeing Chip Kelly do worse than he did.
