Might as well light the fires and kick the tires on Elvis Dumervil. Granted, if this was 2012, we likely win the Super Bowl, but it is what it is. We had the worst pass rush in the league so any help is good help. 33 is not too too old, and he can be used situationally. Aaron Lynch is on borrowed time, and you have to wonder about Ahmad Brooks.
All is good though. I’m fine with this move. We need as many bodies as we can plug in in as short a time as possible. It’s a 2 year deal, so it won’t cost too much. Beyond that, he can mentor all the young guys around him. And we have cap space to burn anyway.

Rob, it does look like we will have a formidable defensive line. Definitely something to be excited about. I figure Seattle will win both their games with us this year but maybe along the way we can inflict some damage. Can’t wait, should be fun.
Seattle is imploding. There’s dissension in the locker room. Teammates think RW is getting way too much credit for the SB win, and the team is still pissed at Carroll over the pick on the 1. Sherman is at odds with the coaching staff and front office. They likely could fall off a cliff as the team ages and squabbles.
The Cards are the Cards, and look to suck. Same with the Rams. Shit we could very well win the division due to the attrition in the west. Hoyer? Hey, why not?
Our division games are certainly in play.

Too early to say but it is possible that the 49ers will have the best D line in the NFL this year. Teams with great D lines are always scary to play. Last year’s biggest problem was the coaching. We will be much better than people think this year.
Yeah, I had the same feeling last year that we weren’t as bad as we looked. At least along the D line. Some of it was attrition but a lot of it was coaching. They would play decent for stretches, but then suddenly the LBs would be out of position and we were getting torched for 20 yard runs.
The GM drafted Athletic attacking D-Linemen and the the coach two gaps them. It was a basic case of the management and coaching not being on the same page.
Yeah, something like that. The whole Mike Nolan clog the line and let the LBs make the plays. Don’t penetrate, just fill the gap. Problem was our LBs were way out of position more often than not and if guys got through the hole, then it was adios amigo.
If I read Selah’s philosophy right, we are going away from 2 gapping and going 1 gap aggro 4-3. Much more flexible and (hopefully) much more disruptive.

One takeaway is the Aaron Lynch issue. he came to camp overweight and has been working strictly with the 2nd team. Saleh’s saying good things, but I think he’s on his way out.

Armstead, Lynch, Buckner, Elvis, Thomas , Foster, DJ Jones. Nice front seven. Not to mention Tank, Earl Mitchell and Quentin Dial ! Now add Ward, Reid , Tartt and our CB’s and we’re pretty dam close to the promised land here guys !
